Seems I've started quite a discussion here. :) I think I'll sit on it for now and see what happens. To one of the earlier queries, it's the mobile company sending the letters about one a week I guess. Debt recovery companies aren't involved (yet). I guess I fear coming home one day and finding the place emptied by the bailiffs! Yes I know it's not a rational fear and they'd probably have to have proof of ID etc etc before they can do anything of that kind. Thanks for the replies.

They wouldn't be bailiffs, just debt collectors. Even with proof of ID (supposing they'd found the right person), they'd still not be able to take anything. Debt collectors have no powers.

Have you forgotten how an address is more legal than the name?

    How so?

You can't take out a bloomin phone contract with just an address in the first place.

3 cannot take an address to court for not paying the bill, they have to have a name.

Addresses aren't credit checked, names are.

You can't do anything to anyone with just their address.

Do how is an address 'more legal' than a name?

OP, have you googled the name of the business the letters are addressed to?

I am on about how important the address plays legally in receiving the mail and complaining about it. It is the OP's address getting weekly letters. I am not on about him using just his address to take out loans, phone contracts etc.I am on about his rights to stop mail being sent to his address. There are 2 ways to do this, but only one applies to the OP as the letters can not be classed as Junk/Unsolicited Mail.
Here to learn and pass on my experiences.
