i have been stuck with a can of borlotti beans in my cupboard for months and have no idea what to do with them. Any ideas please? I have baked beans and chopped toms so was thinking some sort of bean casserole rather than a soup.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 (2014) #1851

Borlotti beans are lovely - I use them in chilli or sometimes throw them in hm minestrone. I love hm minestrone and this post has jogged my memory to make some soon!
Toast for breakfast and then sucuumbed to a nutella flapjack - an hour ago. I really must get back on the healthy eating wagon - I weighed myself this morning and I have put 11 pounds on since just before Easter so if I'm not careful the whole 7 stones is going to go back on. I have been dallying with the idea of going to Slimming World but don't know - I know how to lose weight - I'm just no good at it at the moment!!
Have got DD off school today for a hospital appointment this afternoon so have just made barm cake pizza for her for lunch (slightly stale barm cakes with leftover Ragu jar sauce and grated cheese) and I have got lamb steaks out for tea.
Hope you are all having a good day!

I like borlotti with tomato types sauces, in pasta or bolognaise, or on toast (Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall recipe). I also do bean burgers with borlotti but that's only because I had a huge amount of home grown ones.
Today:
Breakfast - banana
Lunch - probably be bread and cheese, bread is just about to go in the oven - done a loaf with honey, sunflower and pumpkin seeds.
Dinner - no idea yet, either pasta, tofu stir fry or maybe just a cheese omelette and salad. Was going to do a gratin but have an appt later so will just do something quick/easy probably.0 -
Had to pop out, so went into Morries for bananas and noticed they have their 50p fruit and veg offers back on - nice to see.
So bananas for 35p and 4 oranges for 50p = 85p spent so far and the rest of the week and until the end of the month will be little, little spends.
Trying to make my milk and another 4 pints (Thurday'ish) last until I go away next Tuesday.
Kirri - send a little sun up here please. lol

Afternoon all.
Just worked out I have spent £10.48 out of £25 budget lol, got loads of veg though.
Yesterday I spent £1.28 in Mr t on 4 tins of value peaches. I have worked out it is slightly cheaper to buy 2 of these rather than the big tins from lidl.
Today I spent £15 in Mr s £14 on half price brita filters for my grandma who will hopefully pay me back, also a quid on those luxury muller yogurts.
£1.10 on the f&v market stall on 4 beets and a bunch of spinach for my smoothies.
£2 in waitrose on crisps (free) a pack of buttery.veg reduced and my favorite,2 packs of chilli noodles also reduced and money off.
In lidl I got 2 big tins of pineapple slices, a bag of mini apples, a fibreless Brazilian mango whatever that is and a pack of fine green beans £4.20 there.
I have enough f&v for this week, wonder if it will stretch to next week, o also have frozen petit Lois, mixed veg and fruits of forest, might get more as It's 10% off with waitrose card.
I had a smoothie for breakfast, a leaf of spinach, a tin of pineapple, a tin of peaches a beetroot, a bit of ginger and a peeled clementine, for lunch I had the last 2 bagels with crab sticks and mayo for dinner I am having the sausages I took out, as I had a lovely sirloin steak it was gorgeous with mash, brocolli and cauliflower, a m&s trifle for afters yummy lol, anyway so I'm making meatballs with a tomato and spinach sauce and using up some of the mountain of pasta, haven't had pasta in ages and that mountain won't eat itself.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

Traditional Tuscan Bean Stew
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=58741005&postcount=8191 (you could always try replacing the cannellini beans with the tin of baked beans, to use up store cupboard ingredients)
or what about Drunken Beans?
Just search online for 'Frijoles Borrachos' or 'Frijoles a la Charra'; most of the recipes will specify pinto beans (dried) but just use the tinned borlotti beans and adjust the other ingredients quantities accordingly. This looks a pretty standard recipe

Went for the easy cheese omelette tonight, with a big salad (had some bits I had to use up) and a slice of hm bread I made earlier.
Run out of bottled water, milkman due in morning (it's on offer too), used up the last carton of some kid's juice drink I won in the meantime but it's so sweet I don't like it. One more thing out the fridge though.0 -

I had leftover curry today - made dal last night using the never ending bag of lentils and a tin of coconut milk, spiced cabbage using one I picked up last week reduced ( still fine!) and chana masala using a packet spice mix I got about a year ago and a tin of chickpeas!
Am broke at moment and scaling things down for when we get moving date, everyday is a challenge!!I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D
