Florenceem your photos of dinners always look so yummy!!!
Black and white bunny- good luck with the papers/exams (not sure if you are marking them or taking them!)
Well- yesterday was productive , altho felt a bit like I "had" to cook to use up a load of stuff ... am hoping my manic moneysaving mode will settle down as I either get lazy or obsessive/frantic!
Anyway- out of that managed to create 3 tubs of soup (will feed me all week for lunches) , 4 tubs dhal , a batch of flapjacks, fajitas (using up some veg and tortillas needing using and will also do us for tonite). Some of this has gone back into freezer which would have been fine except for "accidently" putting in an online food order to be delivered tomorrow! .... am planning on batch cooking some chilli and casserole out of what Ive ordered but am wondering where on earth I will put it, will need to be a bit creative I think!
Leftover fajitas tonight then will probably do pizza and garlic bread the following night (to create some space in the freezer of course!) then chilli and casserole for the rest of the week before I begin rotating the freezer again!
Think I have managed to buy only what we need to enhance our stores rather than just going for the "usuals" and ending up with piles of the same things in the cupboards! but we shall see! am enjoying seeing it as a challenge but being a bit of a perfectionist sometimes I feel like Im not doing as well as some people on here with the bargains!
Aiming for £100 this month on food as we have a few nights away plus few days at home so easier to nab lunch/dinner out of freezer/cupboards for those times!
Gosh..how did it get to monday morning so quickly! better get off to work I spose!0 -

Evening all, today I have taken some chicken drumsticks from the freezer and will put those in the slow cooker for tea tomorrow. Also defrosted a couple of pieces of lemon cake and some stewed plums so some space "must" have been made? However, am going to be putting some home made pancakes in - we had some yesterday and made twice the amount as batter as usual - so thats a nice easy breakfast sorted for another day.I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0

Hi all, hope you all had a good weekend.
I got ill on the way to my weekend and ended up with a gastroenteritis type bug. Missed out on some seriously lovely food as it was all fully catered. Gutted!
Hubby has made indents in the freezer while I was away and we seem to have a bit of space (OMW! :O)). Tonight I only fancy pizza as still recovering and feel a bit delicate. We have dug out mince to make bolognese with tomorrow.
Only put in a bag of peas earlier and we had aboout 6 ice lollies out today! my kids eat loads of them but I did admit that I had one too - such a nice day.3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Hey all.
I took out 3 tiny pieces of salmon prob about a fillet and. Bit, also took out a m&s blueberry muffin, which I've just had and 2 cursor rolls, I ha the cheese rolls with a cheese and coleslaw filling for lunch, came in after Zumba and put the salmon in the George foreman, strangely enough, that's all I've had today and a ginger beer can, which I'm drinking now.
Doing well with the freezer, I am thinking of taking out the last 2 salmon fillets, which I got from Mr s, was £8 for a whole salmon, made them fillet it and I cut it up and froze, I'm seeing there are more half price deals in t's and Asda, so may wait until Mr s has one to get some more, Kickboxing tomorrow, so will have a sandwich for dinner.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

everyone seems to be doing really well!
My cupboards are looking a bit mother hubbard at the moment - probably for the first time in years! My freezer is similarly depleted but I have enough in there to feed us comfortably until the end of the month and a bit beyond if necessary.
Yesterday I made a roast chicken dinner. I got a small (£2.45) chicken in Aldi and it was plenty for the three of us with over half left over. We had another roast dinner tonight to use up the leftovers, and there is enough chicken left to make curry tomorrow - probably only one large or two small portions though, but they will do me for lunches if I freeze them individually.
I have been making bread in the breadmaker but am going to stop for a bit because I just can't stop eating it and I can feel myself putting weight back on. When I go shopping at the beginning of June I will buy Ryvitas again, as I am much better with them.
Shoudl have been a NSD today but needed milk - at the moment the kids are drinking about 4 pints a day between them - I can't keep up with it and its really starting to annoy me.
katskorner - sorry you were ill - what a shame about missing out on all that lovely grub!!
florenceem - muffins look nice! I can't make muffins for the life of me - they always go really hard and are never sweet enough for some reason.
Well best get to bed!Jane

Last night was mandarin rice bake using rice, a yellow pepper, broccoli, celery (that had seen better days!), stock and Campbell's condensed low fat mushroom soup as its so much nicer and has way more mushrooms in than the full fat version! Anyway it was a bit of a disaster as the recipe said use uncooked rice and it took double the time to cook than the recipe said. Tasted nice in the end but don't think the rest of the other ingredients really appreciated the longer cooking time. Then I made banana loaf, using mainly whole meal flour I've had knocking about for ages, also instead of chopped walnuts as the recipe stated I added ground almonds instead, much safer for the kids and gives a lovely rich texture to any cake or loaf xx0
