Defrosted red thai curry tonight - another meal bites the dust!
All meals this week will be from the freezer as have to run them down to defrost - plus no money!
Freezer surprise on Monday - no idea what I've taken out to defrost - could be beef/mushroom stroganoff. Other meals will be frozen fish, frozen sausages & more surprises!

Gutted I missed out on the cake mix sets - looked everywhere but didn't get one. Was hoping to make them as presents this year.

I would like to join this challenge, i have been lurking for a while but have finally done an inventory of my two freezers and think i should be able to last till at least the end of feb with the meat i have in the freezer.

Theres only me and other half and luckily hes not a fussy eater so it should all go ok,i work a couple of lunch and evenings and on those days i need a quick meal so will have to buy a few curry or sweet and sour sauces.

Apart from that i am only buying bread, milk, fruit and veg.

I was amazed at what i had in the freezer

    2x16 slice pack of bacon
    12 slices streaky bacon
    4 large slices black pudding
sliced turkey taken out for dinner today
    turkey for curry
    1 large cooked chicken breast
    1/2 pork fillet
    large pack diced beef
    2 packs 18 skinless sausages
    pack king prawns
    small veg stew

4 small yorkshires taken out for dinner today
    breadcrumbs
2 crusts saving for bread pudding
    tarragon
    parmesan

    3 hm spicy parsnip soup
    3 pizza
6 wraps using two for lunch with a celery onion and cheese filling
    1 hm tomato soup
    small hm mushroom quiche
    3 hm turkey soup

    2x blackberries
7x 2 portion raspberries raspberry crumble for dessert tonight
    2x 2litre packs raspberries
    1x rhubarb

    2 litres vanilla ice cream

    large bag veg mix

I have some fresh veg to use up and things like spices and oxo's in the cupboard.

I wonder what i should set myself as a spending target?
  • I'm joining in on this, probably won't post much but I will try to! Theres only 2 of us and I'm contantly moving things around in the freezer but I looked and I have:

    14 pork chops
    6 breaded chicken peices
    1 garlic baguette
    A bag of roast potatoes
    14 yorkshire puddings
    1.5 bags of chips
    10 chicken fillets
    2 slices of steak
    4 gammon grills
    1/2 a loaf of bread
    10 bread buns
    1 portion of mince
    24 warburton square wraps
    2 bags of chicken nuggets
    1 pack of cocktail sausages
    42 warburton soft deli squares

Will sit down and work out the weeks meals from it, then go shopping for whooopsies in an hours time to fill the rest in :)

Passing Sainsbury's this afternoon and popped in, very busy as well.
Glad I did now as got a pork joint for £1.99 (reduced from £6.72), pizza for 59p (could have got loads), Sainsbury's Roasted Garlic Mushroom Pappadelle for 29p (from £2.69) and a pack of the basics mushrooms for 14p (these aren't very good but will do spag bol) - total spend = £3.01. Went from no joints in freezer to 5 now (cut beef into 3 joints) and better balance.
Pork mince out for spag bol tomorrow, freezers heaving again, but little spend.

I'm looking for 2 or 3 NSD's out of the next 6 days, should really only need bread and have part-baked rolls and stuff to bake in needed.

Great to see others joining, it gives encouragement and support.

Lynsey, you are making me want to go shopping late at night to get some bargains!! I really should go but I'm too lazy to go out late..

Loving reading the freezer lists on here, any more? Will update and put mine up.

I changed my meal last night and had toad in the hole - then used the batter for pancakes this morning and I'm having the last of it tonight for yorkshires - except I couldn't find the last 2 sausages so having it with hm quiche and allotment peas instead... Didn't have lunch today as went out walking with a friend/dog and didn't pass anywhere to eat..

I've been fairly lucky these last few weeks, but it's "hit and miss". Luckily if there's nothing really worthwhile it's not a problem as I've got plenty and just topping up. Last year I would have taken all the pizzas (if no-one else there looking for bargains), but I'm managing to contol that better.
If you have the space, then do a few "bargain runs" and fill up - you'll save a fortune........if you get lucky. I'm taking as much quality meat as possible as my Sainsbury's seem to have got their act together (sadly) and their stock control has improved. They also reduce earlier and get better prices on their "whoopsies". I won't pay too much for "whoopsies" and only buy late on, limits what's available, but I can still win. lol
I've never been as lucky as Jane was in Tesco last year, but then again I would have had nowhere to put it all!

Don't be lazy, it's fun at times.

I really need to sort the freezers this week and get all the long term stuff together in a couple of drawers and use it up.
