I remember trying to give away a free cinema ticket in the queue. It was ending that day and I wouldn't use it, so figured someone may as well benefit. I asked about 5 people. I then talked an old lady into it but she tried to give me money. I told her to buy her granddaughter an ice cream with the money she'd saved on the ticket and have a nice day. It was like pulling teeth!!!
:rotfl: Funny isn't it? Bit like in a carpark, people are always a bit surprised when I offer them my ticket with time left on it...grateful but surprised.
Well was hoping for NSD day but mum ran out of milk so offered to get some. They had whoopsied onion bajis reduced to 28p so got two. Was planning to take them both back to mine but my brother had a few drinks with friends & after he came home, one pack had strangely disappeared

I know the feeling Kirri, I have been driving for 18 years with no accidents or points (touch wood) and feel I am being ripped off. When I first passed my test I had my own insurance for years. I left work on maternity leave and my ex-husband and I only had one car then so I was a named driver on his insurance. When I left him and got my own car I took out my own insurance and they charged me as if I was a first time driver as I had lost my own no claims bonus. I was well miffed

It's silly isn't it, they don't even seem to look at the record of what people have done driving wise compared to someone new on the road. Almost pays to keep a cheap 2nd car rather than lose the ncb.. I've been driving even longer now  will probably be annoyed for the whole year now with what I paid!!! and I bet they don't put the incredibly increased premium down when I start working again.. my car woes continued today as car refused to start for the first time ever!Kirri - reporting back on the Almond biscuit recipe before it slips my mind. Absolutely lovely. However, for some reason they didn't spread ... Would you have any idea why? I'll be using the recipe again for sure.
Mine stayed mostly at the size they were, maybe a little bigger, I think it may be due to sugar content they don't spread so much? the River Cottage biscuits I've done spread so much they merged into each other but they are more of a cookie consistency.:rotfl: Funny isn't it? Bit like in a carpark, people are always a bit surprised when I offer them my ticket with time left on it...grateful but surprised.
I was really grateful though yes still surprised when I got offered a car park ticket before, they offered me their space too as they were going obviously and I'd been driving around and around trying to find somewhere, was dropping off at the hospital and was in a bit of a rush - saved me a lot of money as the car parks are very expensive in the London hospitals. I think people are just surprised some people can be nice these days without expecting anything back!
Lynsey I love the sound of that free bread!
Family day out today and was fed there and came home with food too lol. No further shopping planned this coming week, apart from veg.0 -
Morning all.
Early rise this morning, just fed the birds some bread and a coffee for myself.
Toasted hot cross buns for breakfast, chicken breast for lunch (open sandwich) and hubby can have bacon and eggs.
Probably snack later.
Freezers are bulging again and I'll have to stop buying this week and try and keep out of shops!!
Looking forward to Lip_Sticks Disney review later.

Microwaving is quickest and gives an excelllent result. I was very skeptical until I saw the chef Vivek Singh do this on TV - Indians cook perfect rice and if they have moved with the times then it was time for me to try. I've never used a pan to cook rice since.Does this work better in a steamer??
never tried it as yet, may try my Tefal steamer next time.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Ooh, I'd be very interested in knowing how to do this please.
Kirri - biscuits got 9.99/10 from bf yesterday and he snaffled half of my production. Couldn't stop himself. Double success. :T0 -
Afternoon all, instead of usual breakfast of two free range boiled eggs, I stirred blueberries into natural cottage cheese.
Bought quite an ornate black Holkham Pottery ceramic footed planter and a square plain white Wedgwood bone china dish from Oxfam. Watched Homeland - for an Old Etonian, Damian Lewis sure does a convincing Yank accent.
OH away Up North until Tuesday so I shall have low carb soup for lunch then maybe fish for dinner and sssh some ice cream with grated 90% chocolate on top !
EDITED: got down to kitchen thought, don't fancy soup, so I threw some salad together and thought hey The Fridge Leftovers Challenge..0 -

Back to the grindstone after a relaxing weekend. Was also hoping for a NSD but broke that on some pop & dairy free chocolate. Not at all necessary but feeling under the weather & wanted some comfort food.Picked up & put down some whoopsied finest bacon, not needed so wasn't going in my basket

Cereal for breakie, meat free spag bol for lunch. Maybe a peanut butter sandwich later.
Should be a NSD day tomorrow. Got out chicken chow mein from the freezer for dinner & will take sandwiches in with me. I'm a part time uni student as well as working & my homemade lunch has been remarked upon before :rotfl:0 -
Hi all
Not had a very good few days at saving. Spent 420 euros and about £20!!!!
Had an excellent time though! Ds absolutely loved it, especially meeting the characters. It was so cute when he had a wake up call from Mickey and he was talking to the recording lol.
Friday was glorious and wasn't too busy. We managed to do quite a few rides. He loved the buzz lightyear ride and star tours which was my favourite, but I felt like the worst mother in the world after taking him on big thunder mountain. We got put right at the back, and from the moment we left the platform it felt bloody fast! I think ds almost cried. I then took him straight onto Phantom Manor LOL. Ds met Captain Jack Sparrow, one of his favourites as we were wandering! We did Cafe Mickey in the evening which was expensive for what it was.
Saturday I thought it'd get nice after a hazy start but I ended up having to go back for winter coats as it was freezing! Nightmare getting through the queues to get back in and massive queues for the rides as well. Sunday was a bit better with the queues but the weather was still a bit rubbish. I honestly can't say though that the weather spoilt it, we were having far too much fun, and I got some great pics of the castle with lovely blue sky on the Friday.
We did the cowboy cookout on Sunday where he got to meet woody and a few others, that was great. Nice atmosphere with live music and better value for money too than cafe mickey. Ds had his cowboy outfit on with a new cowboy hat he bought and looked fab.
Bought ds plenty of toys and things and myself a photo album and mug. Could have done things a lot cheaper but with mam giving me that money to buy ds things I could splash out a bit and not watch the pennies so much.
Will definitely go again, but perhaps not for a couple of years... as my feet really need the rest!!!
Here's a few of my favourite pics.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Lip_stick - am loving your photos and so pleased you had a good time. We were there a few years ago and loved it, though i do remember it being expensive for food in the park - for what it was.I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0
