we were brought an african mask from africa and I immediately hated it, the vibes were evil. It went straight out of the house
op get rid fast. Horrible wood eating insect perhaps will spread throughout the house. I would burn it0 -
If there's sawdust, there will be holes. I'd treat them with woodworm fluid. Then, to be on the safe side, put the mask in a plastic bag for a few weeks, maybe in an outhouse or garage. If anything comes out, it will eventually die and you can bring the mask back indoors.0

Think i am with the 'get rid of it quick brigade' here

Although the freezer suggestion should work if you cannot part with it, but I would leave it in there for a good long while0 -

Gives you some info on the common import from Africa, I would make sure it hasn't spread first and call in pro help if it has.:eek:0 -
Take it outside and give it a few knocks to remove loose sawdust.
Then put it in a plastic bag, and suck the air out with a vacuum cleaner, and seal the bag. Keep an eye on it to see if any more sawdust appears over say, a week.0 -
Thanks for all the replies. I really like it so don't want to get rid of it (& I'd be frightened of bad vibes if I did ). I'll go with this one, and hope that does the trick. Any doubt and I will bin itIf there's sawdust, there will be holes. I'd treat them with woodworm fluid. We bought a carved hand which we thought would be ideal for the front door keys, that is until the fingers moved, or rather something fromwithin the fingers. Tiny piles of dust appeared each morning.
The hand is now in the shed. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Hmmm, you put your suspected wood eating insects in a (presumably) wooden shed?0
