I got a coupon which stated come back to us and you can have three months for free. Great I thought until I entered the code only to be told that because I had previously enjoyed a free trial with Love Film I couldn't have another. Then why the heck send me a voucher asking me to come back then? They already knew I have been with them before hence the come back to us voucher. I will stick to Cinema Paradiso. Better films and better service.0 -

I e-mailed them yesterday drawing attention to the different terms & conditions from the voucher to the website & whether I would be eligible as an ex-customer who has previously had a trial.
They replied :-
"Thank you for your recent mail. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to you by us. This is to confirm you that you will not be charged any amount though it shows on the account that you will be charged at the time of reactivation due to technical error. You will not be charged any amount as you are eligible for the free trai. We request you to sign up and avail the free 3 months subscription. Should you have any further enquiry please do not hesitate to get back to us, so that we can assist you better."
So, yes, it does seem to be 3 months free for all ex-customers, regardless of whether you have had a trial or not. Now I have it in writing I will be signing up, as 3 months for FREE is better than nothing, even if the service has deteriorated.
If anyone else is interested but worried about being charged, I'd recommend e-mailing them from the site so at least then you have it in writing (so to speak) in case there is any fallout. Hope this helps

I wouldnt touch lovefilm with a bargepole. i recently took up their 3 month free trial as i used to be a customer.
i received an email to say my first payment was feb 2007. i received my bank statement from november and i had been charged 9.99 by lovefilm. i rang them and they said because i had renewed my account with a different name ( i used my married name instead of my maiden name) i had made the offer nul and void:mad:
not very happy. the guy on the phone was useless. i have sent a very angry email to them. regarding other problems i have had with them, like accessing my account!!!!(another story)
take my advice, stay well clear:mad:0 -
Another one who says steer clear here!
They charged me £9.99 three days BEFORE my free trial ended and 1 day before I cancelled my account (so within the free trial period IYSWIM)
I have emailed them to get my money back and they said NO because my billing date was before I cancelled - so looks as though they set my payment to come out during my free trial! Why? I dunno but I have informed my bank that it is an unauthorised transaction so hopefully will get my money back.
I would not go back to them now even if they gave me FREE LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP. Utter rubbish. Will stick to Blockbusters in the High Street in future. Grrrrrrr.0 -
I was with Lovefilm several years ago, and more recently ScreenSelect (I left just before LoveFilm officially took over). I've just received a "come back to use and get 3 months free" and was very tempted to use it - until I read this. Their service was useless 2 years ago and I didn't think it could have got any worse but billing during free trials?!?! Think I'll check out Movie Mine unless anyone has any good recommendations?0

I've been sent 4 vouchers by them and am very wary of using them (or giving them to friends) after reading the threads on here. I was with them a couple of years back and cancelled. Just don't know what to do???
My mind not only wanders .......... sometimes it leaves completely0 -

I would highly recommend NOT going with "lovefilm"; they are a bunch of greedy b*****ds!! Cancelled my account with them and because my dvd arrived back 1 day after my payment was due, they took another £10 out of my account!!! I e-mailed and complained (especially as that day was a sunday so couldn't have got the disk to them by then anyway!!), but they are basically telling me to shove off!!!!

As a number of Lovefilm codes are mentioned on here and elsewhere, please can you clarify if one code in particular (of the above) is offered for existing customers?
Many thanks
