Hey;
I need some advice and heard that you guys are the most knowledgeable bunch of moneysavingsexperts.
Basically, I would like to open a bank account which will give me a VISA or Mastercard, rather than a basic ATM Cash Card type thing. But there is one (small) stumbling block, I'm 16.
Which are the best accounts out there that will be able to satisfy what I want?
THANK YOU EXPERTS! :beer:

I would personally recommend HSBC through the good customer service I have experienced however most accounts will give you a Visa Debit card including accounts from Lloyds TSB, Natwest, Barclays ect.0

They are all much of a muchness to be honest usually pay a bit of interest for the first year, discount card, internet banking, visa debit online and cheque book.
Your main consideration with this account should probably be ease of use, the quality of the banks product range (this will probably be the place you get your first credit facilities), and the convenience of their branch network for you.0 -
You're too young for a mastercard and certain visas.
I know Lloyds offer a visa debit for 16 year olds.War does not determine who is right - only who is left.0 -
My 15 year old son has opened one with Lloyds with a visa debit card. Interest rate is very attractive but will recommend he moves banks when a little older as I find this bank and my branch in particular very outdated and disorganised.Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

NatWest do the Adapt account for 11-18 year olds which comes with a Visa Debit card (http://www.natwest.com/personal/current-accounts/g1/young-people.ashx#tabs=section1). You can actually customise the design on your card as well if you so wish. RBS do their Revolve account which is similar to NatWest's Adapt (http://www.rbs.co.uk/personal/current-accounts/g1/young/revolve.ashx#tabs=section1).
Gone from Poor to Excellent Credit. Proud of my recovery. Never going back to the sub prime!
