Under device manager I have the following;
Atheros AR5007EG Wireless network adapter
Bluetooth LAN Access Server driver
Marvell Yukon 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller
I dont want to twiddle with the router as all the other laptops and computer have worked fine. My son also has an ipad that linked upto it straight away. My sister has also tried to wireless connect to her router in a different part of the country on the netbook and has the same problem with it- connects for two seconds then disconnects
All double dutch to me lol- thank you for your continued help. x
You know it's the one in bold, so which driver version is installed?
Right-click the specific device and then click Properties.
On the Driver tab, click Driver Details.
Is Windows controlling the connection? Perhaps you can learn to take screenshots.0 -
Sorry Im a bit slow. on the driver tab it says
Atheros
driver date 06/01/2010
driver version 7.7.0.466
Not digitally signed
I am using my laptop to do this as I cant get to connect on the other one and dont have an ethernet cable0 -
Do you think I should download an updated driver onto a stick from here and update the driver?
Sorry if its a silly question0 -

Yes, the Driver is here
Download and save it on to the USB drive and use WinZip or XP's built in utility to extract the contents(by right clicking and choosing extract)
When done, plug the drive in to the Samsung and double click on the Setup.exe file(384KB) and when asked, choose 'Install DriverACU Both'.
Once installed, set up the connection using the ACU(Atheros Client Utility) and hopefully it should work.0 -
You may need to un-install the current Driver if there is a problem. Don't worry, I have an updated one if necessary.0

Hi-its me again. The netbook is working perfectly in my house - thank you. I want my sister to have it who lives in MK and has the same BT broadband, router etc. We connected to her wireless with her key no problem and it came up excellent and the speed BUT it wouldnt load any web pages!! Does anyone have any ideas why it would do this. She uses her internet on a desktop and a laptop all around her house without problems. It seems very strange and as soon as I bought it back home to my house the pages loaded fine!!!!
Sorry to be a pain and thank you for any advice.

make sure the proxy server settings in the browser are blank when at your sisters. and make sure dns settings in Lan connection match those of the isp -- although usually these are picked up automatically from the router.A new abacus:A.
