the wife and i (i sound like the queen:D ) often go to scarborough just for a fish and chip supper, we go to wackers down the side of the old woolworths, they cook as you order,a lovely clean place and i have never been disappointed and im not a fish and chip lover (the wife is)
i would never use that upstart on the front

Wackers in York is superb too :T Great quality and great service.
    Thinking critically since 1996....

I live quite close to the original HR's shop and restaurant to the north of Leeds. We stopped going there years ago (I think Ross Foods owned it at the time).

It was just mediocre f&c's then and way, way, overpriced.

If we get a visitor from The Deep South, they sometimes ask to be taken there, but we do our best to dissuade them.

I used to look forward to going there when i was a kid, but now the quality is very poor. Soggy, tastless chips mostly and, for us northeners, a gravy that is too thin to cover your chips!

Gravy on chips? Us southern nancies don't have gravy on our chips, we have vinegar and a wally. :D

I love gravy on my chips and cheese and I'm from oxford. :D

I didn't know Harry ramsdens still existed. Remember going there as a kid and it was lush. Don't think i'll be having a reunion with them anytime soon judging by some comments lol
I try to help as much as I can. But I'm also honest and speak my mind.

Smoke free since Jan 2014 :D If you want any advice on quitting please send me a PM. :)

Ditto - I can just about spit onto White Cross roundabout! None of the locals I know EVER go there, we tend to go to Harry's sisters old place - Springfield Fisheries (coincidently, home of Harry Corbett and Sooty!)

The last time we went was when we took some Ozzy relatives who were visiting and badgered to go - they didn't ask again when they came back last year.... :p

Oh I agree! Love a nice wally. And a pickled egg. I love to sit up all night with heartburn, LOL.

    Gravy on chips is *wrong*

Aye, and you don't even do scraps down there either!

Best F&C anywhere in the world is Mariondale's in Robin Hoods Bay - Both me & the OH say so so that's final. End of discussion.;)

For Guiseley it has to be Victoria - have to say though, living very near the white cross myself, my grandparents and I have only been once but thoroughly enjoyed the food at Harry Ramsdens. Was too expensive to go back to though:rotfl:
