I got some Bruce flooring cheap from a place that was closing down 5 years ago. Still looks great. Normally quite expensive but quality product though. American company with very good reputation.0

Thanks all for the tips on where to buy, will check them out tomorrow.
Depends on where it is going and who is laying it. Alot of the engineered stuff is click together so it is easy to lay. Solid wood depends on the sub floor it is being laid onto and can be quite hard to put down if you are doing it yourself, it also can be more liable to warping in certain conditions.Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death.

Its in hall, kitchen and utility. I know it shouldn't be in utility at all, but just want the run to look good as it is a door which is open from kitchen a lot. Been to Howarths and Jewsons today and seen some nice woods, but v expensive, this trail is not getting easier or cheaper!0 -
Go HERE. Find Store Locator, enter details and get info about nearest stockist. Visit. No I do not work for them nor have any interest (pecuniary or otherswise) in the business.

Don't know where the OP is based, so this may be totally irrelevant, but I bought some really good oak flooring from Brill Sawmills in Buckinghamshire. It was a few years ago now so I cannot remember the price, but I do know I called all the big distributors and Brill came out top!
Good luck with the project.0 -

I did just this and I found my local supplier which wasn't too local, yet went today and really liked the entry oak rustic board so thank you Keystone. Now I also tried a couple of other local carpet places and really like a Woodpecker board, once again oiled oak, only £4/m2 difference and have no idea which is the better board. One place is advising 2.5% wastage the other 10% wastage so it makes a big difference on cost as goes into an extra pack at £120 pack. Going to ask my joiner what wastage he would allow.
Thanks again all.0 -

Has anyone ever bought direct from this manufacturer rather than from a stockist? I'm only asking as, by pure chance, I happen to live fairly close to their base.0 -
7mm wear layer, but you will have to oil it yourself.
