Just from my experience I find its better to put things in writing, I had the same experience with natwest and was promised allsorts over the phone with no record of it. I would send the template letter, adjusted if needs be and give them 12 days from when they recieve it to reply. This worked for me and I got all my agreements within the 12 days x

    hsbc have offered me £3520.55.
they said they have reviewed my claim in accordance with the requirements from the financial services.
it says that the money offered will effectively return the protection premiums i paid inc interest.
do i accept this as a final settlement or what else could i do?
    thanks for any help

    Well done.
They have offered you the correct redress,as per FOS guidlines,if you get the figures and you think they are wrong, then you can dispute these.
  • i spoke to hsbc today and they basically said it would take another 8+ week to sort out as they are very busy. but i cant understand why they dont give you a detailed breakdown in the first place. and as i dont have any of the original documents i dont know how much ppi i was wrongly paying so i dont know if they are trying to fob me off?
    any help would be great
    thanks matt
