Granted i was resisting initial advise but a whole 30mins later and i already agree...what was the need to start questionning my parenting skills? That was a dig with the whole "saint" buiness and i dont see why there was any need. Was it helpful at all?
Give the person the benefit of doubt in that they might have not meant quite what they said.
Give me a shout if you need a hand with the shopping list. If you're family is a fan of pizza (and I'm sure I remember you mentioning Tesco!), then check out the freezer section. Tesco do a family size Cheese and Tomato pizza for 48p! Add a few bits and pieces to the top of this and you have a fab meal. I do this and use up left over bits of chicken or bacon, mushrooms or sweetcorn and add a little extra cheese to the top of the pizza. What ive tried to do is avoid asking for loans for 6 months. The idea was to tidy up myself so that i could last 6 months without missing payments then id be in a better possition to apply. But hey ho...ive not asked for a loan in 3 months but ive missed payments.
i dont suppose you know if it goes bad on your credit rating if you have payment breaks (currently at the end of a break on the mortgage and loan).
Ok thanks for the insurance info ill see what i can do!“I want it before I can afford it addict”Debt as of Feb 2008= £16,01.79Proud to be dealing with my debts!- Just wish they would go away!0 -
Benson112 wrote:Lol she can but she cooks things like she is used to eating it. Im soooo fussy with my food its like feeding a 4yr old. So thats pretty much why i cook, because if she does i wont like it! So to retract my previous statement...she can cook, i just dont like her cooking!
I can understand that then. I do all the cooking for me and my girlfriend when I'm with her (we don't live together).0 -
There is a well known saying which goes:-
“If you always do what you’ve always done then you’ll always get what you’ve always got”.
Making changes to your spending habits are neither easy nor pleasant. We all know that, but none of us on here have got a magic wand that will take all your debt problems away. What we do have to offer are experiences, understanding and in some areas expertise. That is freely available and you are welcome to take advice, explore it further or ignore it.
What you appear to want is to say “Well I can hear what everyone is saying but I don’t like it, can I have an answer that I would like please?”.
Bottom line if you cannot earn more then you have to spend less or your situation will not change and might even get worse.
I am sorry to be so blunt but you need to hear it - and you are probably a great Dad!0 -

Then she should re-read before she posts! lol. Although i have a sneaky feeling shes having a bad monday and decided to take it out on the computer screen by typing nasty words, she sounded pretty genuine!

Benson112 wrote:hold on a second here...im asking for financial advise not parenting advise...do you even have kids?
Let me just set the record straight here...
2 Kids
1 Baby, 1 toddler.
Baby doesnt give a hoot about the TV, all he does is sleep and eat as babies should.
toddler....regardless of if she is watching it or not...will not let me turn over. We sit and play constantly yet the TV must be on and have cbeebies on even if shes not watching it!
Just becuase i "USED" to go out and have a beer doesnt mean i sit my kids infront of the TV and drink beer picking my !!!!! Im a damn good father and have a good balance between my work, family and social life so dont judge me. If i wanted your advise on how to look after my kids i would ask.
IF you have kids you should know that 2year olds do as they please. And when it comes to what channel is on TV im not going to argue with her. She is already gettign told off enough for testing the water! I am not saying i need it, infact i said the oposite! I want it and it CAN go but not yet as i have a contract!!
I dont go out at the weekend and that is a big thing for me, not saying im a saint or anything but i have a life and lots of friends. I run a football team sponsored by our local pub so its not easy avoiding the place!
I spend all my week working my balls off to put a roof over my families head. I have no money/time or energy to go out in the week therefore i USED to go out on friday nights (i.e. get a babysitter and have a night out with the gf...not sit the kids infront of the TV and go out getting !!!!ed!). We now dont do that as we cannot afford it!!!!
Clear enough?? Ive only said it 12 times now!!!
I suggest you word your comments more constructively as im sure it said somewhere on here that i will not be judged! I spend more than enough time with my children!
Hey again!
You are a good father and obviously want the best for your family! That is why you are on here asking for advice/help.
Try not to take comments too personally-we are all here for you:D Answer the ones you want to and ignore the ones you dont;)

Unixgirls menu ideas are great - I must admit I tend to 'batch cook' just cos its easier. In fact I did it for a friend the other night when I was babysitting for her!! £12 made the following - 2 lasagnes, 1 shepherds/cottage pie (whatever you want to call it the mince was beef
) 2 macaroni cheese and four separate portions of spaghetti sauce, each one enough to feed two people. I could also have ade a macaroni bake or a few other things - if you want some ideas feel fre to PM me, I'm getting ever more creative cooking on a budget!! And my ohubby is a fussy b@gg@r too!!!!
Proud to be dealing with my debts :T DFW Nerd: 2410 -
Benson, I'll give you a laugh I'm 30 now but up until the age of 18 I couldn't cook (packet chicken rice and garlic bread does not count), I was taken under the wing of my two flatmates who were chefs. One taught me all the fancy stuff and the other who ran his own very small restaurant taught me how to shop and budget. Its thanks to him I managed to survive on £11 a week after graduating and feed myself properly. We all have to learn sometime. At least you've got the guts to give this a go.
Adding the toppings to the pizza means you can have half of one type (say cheese and tomato) and half of something else (ham and pineapple?) whatever you fancy really. Using the Tesco value pizzas as a base is a good cheat as the bases are lovely and the sauce is already there along with some cheese!CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. 1. I didnt ask for ways to cut back on spending - not that i am ungrateful for the help and advise i have got as 90% of it is really useful. The ones i cannot / willnot change i am just offering reasons as to why i wont be taking that particular bit of advise. I am not saying give me a better answer...im simply trying to be polite and replaying to everyones help if i can!
2. I get the bottom line...it warrents a big fat "no sh*t shirlock" comment. I have taken this aboard, i understand it, i eat sleep and breath it! Weve moved on from the "get your head round it" bit that was page one! I accept i have to cut back even more than i have now where as at the beginning of the thread i was thinking..noooo not my sky!
Sorry mate im just getting a little fed up of people talking to me as if i am a child. I get this all day at work & all the time off my parents when all i want is some advise!
now can people stop telling me "You need to realise that you have to cut back".....I GET IT!!!! maybe not on page one but (in the accent of a spoilt american rich girl) hello were 2 pages forward now :rotfl:
Sorry again mate just joking in most of it. :-p
I like that saying, never heard it before but its good. Might use that at work :-)“I want it before I can afford it addict”Debt as of Feb 2008= £16,01.79Proud to be dealing with my debts!- Just wish they would go away!0 -
