If you want to be debt free, take aways are a no no sorry. Even at say £10-15 a night thats upto £150 after only 10 days. There's loads of threads on here that help with recipes (very easy I promise). If you want some help compiling a shopping list for a week, we'll help. You can also re-create lots of your favourite take away dishes at home and freeze some for when you don't fancy cooking. Cakes and puddings too, get the kids involved so they're not always sitting in front of the tv. They can help make biscuits (saves you money buying lots of sweets for them).
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J
  • hehe 2012!

I just dont know what im doing when i hit tesco...dont know what to get to last etc. Im good at not allowing the OH to buy brand named stuff (shes a snob shopper). Im a tesco's own brand boy all the way but i still seem to spend £80 on food that only lasts a week!!

Lol...i can cook thats not a prob :-) Im a good house husband when im in the house! The reason we get take away is because if ive had a hard day at work i cant be bothered to cook! So thats easily done as long as i have food in the house...which is never!
Takeaways have become our favourite food because we eat so much of it, i was never too bothered before we got our own place (thats because mum was cooking granted!).

Id say we easily spend £70 a week on crap food!

Don't mean to sound harsh but lots of people have hard days at work and still have to cook. It doesn't take much effort and it will be worth it in the end.

A suggestion may be to cook in bulk at the start of the week and freeze it so all you have to do is take it out and microwave it afterwards. I do that sometimes and it saves loads of time (and money more importantly)
  • your right mate...im just lazy sometimes but you missed an important bit..most of the time we have no food in so i end up having to go out an get the food, come home and prepare it, cook it....by which time im not hungry anymore, the kids are in bed with no food lol...so its easier to order a takeaway. If i could learn to shop properly id never eat takeaway again!!!
