I currently have a sony ericsson k800! on payg and i pay £15 a month with a £7.50 internet bolt on, i am looking at going onto contract as i can get a modern phone which i can then use the internet better and a cheaper monthly bill as im currently spending £22.50 a month atm.

I have been looking at the Samsung Galaxy S and the Samsung Galaxy S II, both i have found good deals online with the 'S' type on Phones 4U at £21.50 a month with £195 redemption, (not too sure how that works though) and the 'S ii' on Mobiles.co.uk at £27 a month with 4 months free line rental. All deals are for 24 months.

The Galaxy S is a good phone. After nightmares with HTC Desire phones, I am very happy with my Galaxy S. It works for a start lol.

However, I have problems with mobiles.co.uk. I was supposed to get cashback on quidco and haven't (£50) and no idea how to claim the promised cashback I am supposed to get on certain months. I'd not order from mobiles.co.uk again.

And as well, the insurance that u pay £7.99 a month for provided through mobiles.co.uk, only covers for a lost phone when u have a crime number. I had a Desire disappear out of my handbag but because it wasn't taken at knife point with witnesses, the police wouldn't give me a crime number (seriously, this is what the police told me), only a loss number. The insurers would not replace the phone. When I bought a phone and insurance from Orange, the insurance cost £6 a month and the phone was covered against theft even if u didn't have a crime number.

Its not nice to have to continue to pay for the phone when its gone in this way.,. and expensive to replace. Its something I consider now with more expensive smart phones.

Use TCB next time. It's never guaranteed, but you are more likely to get it at TCB than at Quidco.

You have no idea, but give an advice. Very strange IMO.

You are free to cancel the insurance if you don't like it and buy the one you like. It's free for the first month and doesn't cost you anything.

I am able to give advice on my experiences with mobiles.co.uk and the phone the OP queried. The fact that I am still waiting for Quidco cashback on the purchase (having received cashback on every other purchase I have made using Quidco) and the difficulty finding information on how to get the monthly redemption (which I have now found through sources on here, not because the information was easily found on the mobiles.co.uk site) would make me unlikely to use mobiles.co.uk again. I expected to get information with the phone. They can send invoices easily enough with the phone lol!

I have tried to give the link on how to get the monthly line rental cashback with mobiles.co.uk but it won't work on here for some reason!

I obviously wasn't aware that the insurance company connected with mobiles.co.uk would not replace a phone without a crime number, or that police will not give one in cases of theft without proof of the theft (having previously used cheaper insurance with orangecare who did). A case of wiser after the event, but information well worth passing on to someone who is considering which company to use and may take their insurance referral. I'd rather not have someone else learn the hard way i.e. find they are without a phone that another insurance company would replace.

    Fair enough?

Seems fair; although Grumbler's comments are more than. No-one should enter into ANY cashback deal with ANY dealer unless they do a LOT of research and know exactly what they're doing BEFOREHAND. It is very easy to find the t&c on the dealer's site with very clear instructions on when and how to claim. Although I have issued numerous warnings about this (and other) dealers not being able to locate the t&c is absolutely no reason for avoiding them.

So you would not recommend mobiles.co.uk? I have thought about going into our local Phones 4U store and asking them to match mobile.co.uk deal that they advertise online for the Galaxy S 2.

If you do, get it clearly in writing first. When you order over the internet you can get it all in writing and thus enforce it if necessary. I wouldn't buy from a Phones4u store - they have a very bad reputation.

Cashback deals are my specialism - and they work extremely well IF you know what you're doing and are ready, willing and able to enforce the cashback as and when required (provided you do things properly it's rarely required, though I am in the process of commencing legal proceedings against this dealer).

Really, that does not sound good

Generally you wouldn't have a problem provided you know what you're doing (and many don't!). The reason for suing in this instance is more a matter of principle than money - I don't like to see a dealer getting away with things, especially when it involves double standards. I will still make a profit from it whatever the outcome.
