I was in a similar position and my insurance company said to reject any offer by the other parties insurance company, can't remember the reason why.
Usually so your own insurer can pass you off to a claim management company, and get their referral fee, and the fee for the credit hire car.
If you miss them out, they miss out on a lot of money.0 -
Reason 1) as already stated, they want to sell you to credit hire companies etc to get the kickbacks they receive.thegirlintheattic wrote: »I was in a similar position and my insurance company said to reject any offer by the other parties insurance company, can't remember the reason why.
Reason 2) which is more important, if you use your own insurer to handle the claims then you are protected by the FoS if there are any issues that you cannot resolve with bad repairs etc. If you go directly with the third party's insurer you are not covered by the FoS and so would need to use the courts instead.
That said, it can be less painful to go direct, especially if you are getting close to renewal time.0 -

So they can make a mint off you... and then get you to sign a nice credit hire document stating if the other party refuses to pay, your liable
If I ever had a non fault claim I'd ask the third parties insurer to deal with it... they don't do any worse than your own insurer and it saves the industry money.0
