Anyone used Churchill to fix their car?

Just a quickie. Had my car hit. Other driver at fault, has admitted liability etc.

His insurer, Churchill, have offered to repair the car and provide me with a replacement vehicle etc. Anyone had any experience of doing this - good/bad?

    I'd probably use them.
It's too old to insist on a dealer repair really, and if you let Churchill take care of everything, it'll save you running around getting quotes, and finding a good bodyshop, also they'll guarantee the work if they do it.

And, if you use their garage and they mess up the repairs on your car.. they have to sort it out :) saves you the worry

If the quote does not write off your car, then there is no reason why you cant use anyone you like.

    Indeed you can.

You can insist on the dealer, a garage you know and like, or any one you fancy.

The normal reason for a dealer is to preserve the bodywork warranty, at 11 years old it'll be long gone though.

If you want to use your own garage, you'll usually have to get two or three quotes, unless the cost is similar to Churchils own.
Churchill won't usually organise the repair, normally you'll need to get that arranged yourself.
Churchill won't warranty the repair, that's down to you and the garage.
If the repair isn't good, again that's between you and the garage.
Churchill may or may not organise a courtesy car for your own garage, if not, you'll have to organise your own, or sell your soul to a claims company.

So really, with an eleven year old car, I still reckon it's not worth insisting on a dealer repair, and if you're not, Churchills bodyshop will be as good as anyone else, and less hassle.

If churchill are offering their services.. they wont do it purely for the repair aspect, they want to take control of the entire claim including the hire so won't even give the OP a chance to get to credit hire.

If you want to use your own garage, tell Churchill that, tell them you also need a replacement car whilst yours is in for repairs. Be reasonable but be firm on what you want... you haven't done anything wrong here and all your asking for is what your entitled to.
  • Check with your insurer first!

I was in a similar position and my insurance company said to reject any offer by the other parties insurance company, can't remember the reason why.

Yes, we used them to deal with our claim in March.

Had accident, not our fault, Churchill were our insurance company so we got them to deal with the claim and get our excess back from the other insurance company.

They were extremely efficient, enterprise contacted us within 2 hrs of the accident offering their services and were very helpful giving us a like for like car to use. (only 200 miles on the clock!)
Churchill used their repairers as they guaranteed the work for 5 years. Were extremely satisfied with their workmanship, their customer service etc.

Now just waiting for our excess back. Other side have accepted liability.

Had this happen to me when a churchill insured driver ran into the back of me. Was really impressed with churchill. Curtesy car and repair all organised within 1 business day and my own car back repaired with manufacturer parts within a week.
