Its a bit late to start panicking now.
My kids were younger than yours when we went abroad. AND very fair.
With shade and cool drinks you can always manage the heat. The big problem is humidity , much more uncomfortable. My family . off to Turkey next month , no problems , stay out of the sun . its the 'glare' that hurts.
If the kids can sleep in the middle of the day , that would be great.

Just remember the sun can still find you under a sunshade , still use the high factor sunscreeen. Wear hats AND set a good example , wear one yourself.

Ps if you get the chance , try my fav table .............and make me really jealous.

I always thought that the Med islands were much more of a dry heat?

That might well be true 'inland' but all the coastal areas I have been to . most islands in the Med , coastal areas of North Africa/ Turkey its always been the Humidity. Some else mentioned Nicosia , very hot ( dry? ) inland!
Its the sea breezes that make the holiday bearable, but when they die down , often in the evening the Humidity rises.

I thought that too until we visited Cyprus last August.

    The humidity is stifling.

We always enjoy eating out in the evening and love walking to different restaurants within a mile or so, but just found it impossible to do so.

We're staying at the Helios Bay Apartments. I've not stayed there before but we fly on Sunday so I can update this when we get back!

According to Trip Advisor it gets great reviews, it was cheaper than anywhere else I looked at and is rated as 10 out of 100. A little out the way and not a party place but depends what you want from your holiday.
