What do you use instead of quicktime - it's on loads of websites!

Now if you had simply put quick time alternative into Google you would have found this. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Fact is quicktime has probably hijacked your settings to make it the default player for all sorts of media!
Quicktime and iTunes do have their problems. My main two gripes are the file association hijacks (without permission!) and the barrage of programs that run on start up (why do I need ipodhelperservice? I dont have an iPod!)
Media monkey is fantastic for organistaion and transfer, not such a good player though, winamp is prob best for that.

I've got Media Monkey now, but reading these replys now make me wonder if I should get rid of quicktime,
Not altogether sure what it is, LOL but don't like the sound of any thing doing anything on my comp I don't know about!
Any more advice anyone?0 -

Good advice. Why the bbc wants us to use spyware (real player) is beyond me. Although they have a spyware free version hidden deep in the depths somewhere.

Songbird looks like a promising alternative to iTunes... but it's not quite finished yet.0
