I put I Tunes on my computer after my daughter bought an Ipod
May be a coincidence but the computer behaved so badly that I took it off after a couple of weeks.
She wants to put it back on, but I wondered if I needed to have Itunes to be able to put music on the Ipod.

Yes, you need itunes, to be able to tranfer music to the ipod, because the ipod is not like a normal mp3 flash drive, as it stores and indexes music, using folders.the itunes software, can only communicate with the ipod.0

Is it normally trouble free, Millions of people must be running it I suppose0 -
I tunes can cause problems with older pc's.... my daughter put it on a 3 year old laptop pc and it was a disaster. But now she has it on a new dell 6100 and no problems..0

Well, i know alot of people who have had trouble with it as it seems like a chore just to transfer the music, rather than the drag and drop format of a normal flash mp3 player.0 -
Apple like you to enter 'apple world' when you bbuy into their products. Remember iPods used to work only on Macs!

so you don't need i tunes for your i pod at all, it even says it on the media monkey home page. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Itunes is pants - plain and simple, there are loads of problems with it and its not the only software that works with ipods. Winamp will work and if you want some extra features have a google for rockbox.0

I run iTunes on my PC and I am happy with it for playing music and burning compilation CDs. All my music is imported in MP3 format. Not wishing to stray too far from the original thread, but I have a related question: does anyone know if I can easily copy my music to an ordinary MP3 player please? Or will iTunes only with with Apple products?0

If your music has been imported in MP3 format, then simply forget iTunes and use File Explorer to drag and drop the tracks onto your other MP3 player. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
