Here's a link to the thread.
Opinions4u, I am glad that you realised that calling the poster an idiot wasn't right - that's all I was referring to when I commented on that thread, but the forum seems to have deleted my post. Strip away that comment, your thoughts were useful I thought.
At any rate, I do think this forum is helpful but sometimes the tone of some commenters is overly harsh. At the end of the day, this is still the Internet and the written word can look harsher than spoken tones, so I just think we should all be aware of that.Credit Card paid back in Full (June 2011): :j £500 in the clear -

It would seem sometimes, that people asking for help, are really asking people for help in finding a way of absolving themelves of their responsibilities. You can see why this would wind some people up.0

People come on here because they need advice, they certaintly didn't sign up to be called nasty names and been talked to like they are a child..
They do indeed, but unfortunately it is also sometimes the case that the advice that they need turns out to be quite different from the advice that they wanted to hear. And sometimes people can be quite blunt about it to the point of rudeness, but that's just the way things are, particularly on teh interweb where no one knows you're a dog.0 -
Bare with me on this post = no so intellectual 17 year old
I have notice in particular the loan forum, that it seems to be infested with people that are just up themselves and rarely provide any construcive help/criticism when people post loan/debt related issues.
I won't name them, but im sure if you look on my thread you will know who i am about, that are just full of themselves and just make people feel so small.

That's the last thing what people want, when they have issue such as this going on through their lives.
What i have noticed too is people are not very understanding, 'oh you should sell this, sell that, sell your car' ect. Many people need the things they have, like a car, yes they can sell their car and buy a cheaper car but the way some people go on on here, they think you can just click your fingers and all matters will be resolved.
No one shouldn't judge someone if they have come into a difficult matter such as debt. None will know what the future holds for them, you can have it all, the money, good, stable paying job and you lose it all, these things happen.
Anyway my main point is that people needs to be more understanding instead of throwing the riot act at people that they don't really know.
I rest my case / rant over.
JP It seems like you have had a baptism of fire from the usual 'offenders' on MSE.
The 'ignore' button works a treat although it does not hide other posters quoting the 'ignored' person.
Nonetheless - over time you will learn who those people are and then once identified, click the button and they are gone - you don't have to put up with their vitriolic rubbish.
You have to remember that to some - this board is their life -they have nothing else to live for (it seems), however, you will also find (once the dross has been filtered out) that the majority on here are extremely helpful and have expertise in many areas that make this forum worth visiting.
