Storm in a tea-cup. One person's views that are not shaqred by anyone else, including his own party. I wonder if he's related to Gelnn Hoddle?

I think they are testing the water to try to find a way to get the people in the support group (the most ill people) into menial extremely low paid work.

Becauset there are plans to impose conditionality on some in the support group in the future, ie go on some scheme or lose your benefits.

The scheme will likely be a hey we can get you a job for 1 pound an hour, take it or starve type of thing.
[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

They don't have to do that. There are loads of voluntary jobs about. These should be filled first by the disabled, unemployed and sponging pensioners before changing the rates of pay.

If you look at Britain as if it was a business and profits were going downhill what would you do with the employees?

You would look to those that either wern't pulling their weight or were well passed being profitable.

Same goes, those that are a drain on this country, the unemployed, the sick and disabled and the pensioners should be made to contribute something for their keep.

Businesses would make the worst performers redundant, so why don't we do the same? No voluntary work contribution, no hand outs.

And as for keeping people until they peg it at 95, that is a complete waste of money, they are not doing much in return for what they are getting are they?

Okay I'm just going to jump on the "sponging pensioner" bit. Most pensioner have worked 40 - 50 years, don't you think that they have contributed already?

When they introduce the universal credit in 2013 ins't it? won't a lot of people in the support group of ESA loose their benefit anyways because in fact the universal credit will be means tested for everyone at an upper threshold of £16000 in savings?

The Universal Credit is only replacing means tested benefits Contribution Based ESA and JSA will continue to be paid, Now I know that there are people in the Support Group who are Income Related ESA, but they are already subject to a means test, so nothing will change.

I thought it was contribution ESA(work related) that was being replaced?

Incapacity benefit is being replaced with ESA for all long term IB claimants too now, maybe that's what you're thinking of?

I am so pleased that you are contributing. The country needs more like you and less of those that take more out than they contribute.

What a lovely comment to post in the disability part of the forum where there are obviously many who are unable to work so may indeed be taking more out than they can ever put in.

Thanks at times like this we have to look at what is going out and what is coming in. If more goes out in benefits and pensions than is coming in as taxation, then something has to happen.
Either find some work or cut back on benefits.

And what is your disability then, to be able to speak so flippantly about the disabled who are not working or not able to work?
