Chuck all the clutter in bin bags or boxes (label them from which room you got the clutter from), and shove the bags in a spare room/garage. Explain you have been sorting stuff for the charity shops, and hope they can see around them.

You really do need clear surfaces and floor space to make your home feel as large as possible.

Start now and do an hour 'blitz' clean - you will get loads done in that time if you stay focussed.

Just make sure bathroom is clean, kitchen surfaces clean and open windows tomorrow :)

If you have a lots of stuff - can you stash it somewhere out of sight? If you have a car this maybe an option?

A pain I know I used to spend 4 hours cleaning for my viewings (and my house is immaculate most of the time anyway) but it will be worth it when you get that offer.
  • thats really good advice but im looking for someone with a stockpile of elbow grease that needs using up ha ha
  • i notice my kitchen surfaces are getting a lot of attention have you all seen them or something

...don't buy lots of fancy cleaning products, buy a cheap bottle of zoflora, it's great, cleans and disinfects, and leaves a nice smell, try Flowershop - my favourite.

If your sinks are a bit whiffy, put a bit of neat zoflora down the plughole plus a splash of hot water, so that it sits in the U bend and wafts up good smells.

Oh, and scrub your loo......guaranteed one viewer will need to use it, but for viewing keep the seat down.

Hehe - I actually love the idea of going into someone's house and cleaning it. Did it whilst my grandad (at the request of my auntie) was on holiday as he had become a bit messy!
  • hope they dont need the loo no roll left oops
  • love and cleaning are 2 words never to be used in 1 sentence its wrong very wrong ha ha
