Should I risk moving to sky BB-to save over £12p/m?

I do use torrents but not often as I'm worried about the download limit!
If we didn't have that to worry about I would do a lot more. Mainly gaming with xbox live, and my general surfing. Although we are looking into hooking up our 2nd xbox so there would be two of us gaming at same time.
My speed isnt listed I dont think, my service type is: PlusNet Broadband Your Way Option 3 (Monthly Contract)
Just noticed I have to take their phone too which may be a problem as I get BT basic so the cost may actually end up being more than I thought. Will have to sit and work it out.
Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end0 -

You don't have to take Sky rental for the broadband you can still use BT Basics BUT your calls must stay with BT so you cannot add on Sky Talk so the price would be £12.50 per month for Unlimited broadband as a Sky TV subscriber0 -
Yes BT do say you cant have BT Basic together with a phone service provided by another company.0

That's still cheaper than what I am paying now.
This may be a really dumb question, but my sky tv contract will end in feb 2012, if I took BB out what would happen when my contract ends in terms of price as I would be no longer deemed a sky tv customer? Would they then charge me a higher price from then till the end of the BB contract? If so what is that price?

If you stopped the Tv in Feb 2012 Broadband only would increase to £150

Sky Broadband / Easynet is available in your area. So thats a good sign
Hammy what are your speeds at now and how long did it take for them to get there? What's the lowest you get, other than when it was stabilising?
My fiance games via xbox live and that has to be one of the most important things, as right now he gets ripped for his slower speeds and more often then not moderate or strict nat (means nothing to me I'm just told it haha). Doesnt help our friend gets 21meg so obviously ours is terrible compared to that
Thanks for the help
Hi. It started off at 4MBit then ramped up to 11MBit the next night. The following few days it went up and down a bit around 12MBit for a couple of days and has settled on 12282kbps.
On speed tests using speetest.net, no matter what time of the day it never goes below 10MBit and most of them are with one or both kids on Xbox usually.
As SteveE2 said, on Plusnet during peak times virtually all their packages get throttled to 2Mbit or less. There's no throttling with Sky I've been aware of.0 -
Well my change over to adsl2 happened yesterday. Getting about 11mb most of the time, it peaked to 12 once or twice. So only a few meg off what I had been told I could get so hopefully that will increase. My upload is about 375kbps most of the time which is only marginally better than before.
With regards to the throttling, I was on an old package and for most of it I got full line speed, except for odd things like torrents. But I have now moved packages, I am now on the extra with pro add on, which will now cost me 16.49 so a bit cheaper
Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end0
