Hi. I was asking that question on behalf of someone else.
In the last 2 years my mother has had a stroke which has left her unable to speak and needing 24 hour care. Whilst in hospital she was also diagnosed with breast cancer and then to top it all my father was diagnosed with lung cancer 3 months later. I l gave up my job to look after my parents and was not working for 9 months. I am employed now but I have no alternative but to go BR. Thank goodness the people at Melanie Giles and CCCS have been there to help me.
To cut a long story short, don’t be too quick to judge people without knowing the full details.
Thanks all of you for your help everyone. Much appreciated.0 -
@ Gatesygirl
Best of luck with the BR - and ignore any bitter comments!

Thanks Cookie.
Its very easy for people to judge without knowing the full story. The only people who know the full story are my GP, Melanie Giles and CCCS.
If it wasn't for my dog I would quite happily take myself off the ends of the earth at the moment.

You need to learn the difference between bitter and helpful.cookie.monster wrote: »@ Gatesygirl

How is warning the OP that there could be problems not being helpful??
NOT being helpful is suggesting she spends money on a CC she's taken out AFTER she knows she's insolvent (apart from the BR fees)
Unless things ha changed greatly since i went BR, that was always a big fat no-no.... still, this has reminded me why i stopped posting on here. I' ll let you get on with it :cool:The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter

Hi. I was asking that question on behalf of someone else.
Why?
It sounds feasible that it was you, your mother got ill 2 years ago. 18 months ago you are asking questions about income support.
Now you are asking questions about, use of a credit card applied for a month ago, and used when you had applied for bankruptcy. If it had been a card held for some time, I could accept that but you have deliberately opened a card to use.
I think the OR will take a dim view.0 -
I think betterlatethannever is getting a hard press here. He seems only to have been trying to answer the OP's question which is whether it would be frowned upon and without information to the contrary is quite right to point out the thread that he did (even though we know now that was relating to a different situation) as i will explain now.
I need to point out first that using credit knowing that you cannot repay it is a bankruptcy offence (and leans towards a more criminal one two) even if that is for the bankruptcy fees and even if you are in dire need of the goods purchased. The OR could seek to punish those actions BUT USUALLY they dont, not because they approve or think it is right but simply because it is an impratical use of resources (biiger fish to fry as it were. However when considering whether to push for some sort of penalty they can take in to account a cumulative affect (ie if you have done a series of things wrong and/or other things within a recent timescale) and if the OP had then what she proposed coud be the straw that broke the camels back so it is dangerous to advise that the OR WILL turn a blind eye in cases such as this even if they have before and so if it may seem that the OP had other possible causes of concern in the recent past it is quite right for BLTN to highlight these even though we know differntly now
EDIT: Although perhaps phrasing it a little better may have helped BLTNHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
Please note that any views i put forth are not those of my former employer The Insolvency Service and do not constitute professional advice, you should always seek professional advice before entering insolvency proceedings.0 -
have to agree with debtinfo
i thought doing things like taking out credit card this near br could be classed as fraud? ie knowing you wont be able to pay it back.
im not saying op has done this just that it could give that impressionbsc 347:j0 -
