Spending pre BR Court date

I have my Court date in 3 weeks time.
I have a credit card which I took out prior to speaking to a debt counsellor who advised me BR was my only option. I am moving in a weeks time and I need to buy a TV (my existing one is my landlords) and small fridge (this is the landlords too)
Will it be frowned upon that I took out this new card just prior to going BR if I spend on it?
I also need to use this card for my £700 fees for Court?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Kind regards

Using the card for the fees will be fine.
As for the TV and fridge, can you not try Freecycle first? Otherwise, essential household spending shouldn't get you into any trouble. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

I wouldnt worry too much, keep your receipts and explaint he reasons in your interview. Im sure your OR will see that you needed a fridge.
Many people use their credit cards to pay the fees too, as long as you dont go spending wrecklessly and are only buying things that you need and can show that you needed them, then you should be ok.
Dont worry, the OR interview is not as bad as you think!0 -
How long have you had the card?:pB&SC No. 298

Do you still have your Premium bonds? the OR will take these. Anything left of your 16k savings from less than 18 months ago?The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. Thanks for your help. I will try and get a second hand TV and fridge but will probably have to pay cash so will try and get a written receipt. Just hope the OR is ok with this.

Thanks Manoona - what is classified as essential spending? My partner has left me and I need such a lot. I am moving into a new place with my little dog.0

I admit there may be some people willing to write the OP off because of the above thread, but that was 18 months ago, and peoples situations can change sometimes quite dramitcally in that amount fo time!
We dont know all the details yet - Im sure everyone views bankruptcy as a last resort, at least i would hope this is the case anyway!0 -
Essential spending is your day to day living basically - groceries etc - just be aware that you may be asked to provide evidence etc and what some ORs will accept others won't. Im sure it'll be fine though :-)0

I took out the card last month. I have a rescue dog that has cost me a fortune. Had a tumour the size of a quarter of his body and that has cost me £1200 and as he is 15 years old I haven’t got pet insurance. At least I have got the vets to detail the exact dates and amounts paid since February so I can provide this to the OR.
Thanks for your help.0 -
