Inviting them in to find you sacrificing a goat to Satan or asking them to participate in your Pagan orgy tends to send them packing... :D

I used "harassed" as she did step into my path, knowing I couldn't get round, thus forcing me to stop!

I don't mind doing genuine market research, but I'm quite sure this one was just after contact details, or I'd get a make over day then be bullied into parting with £100s, as she really did get quite stroppy with me when I said I wasn't interested. I may look very girly, but I'd much rather spend the day in a shed doing DIY than having my hair and nails done!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

A lot of these folks are very rude and unpleasant (some even borderline threatening) if you say "No thanks", and like pinkshoes says, often step in front of you, forcing you to stop. Must make it a lot more difficult these days for genuine market researchers!

The Jehova's Witnesses have a list, incidentally, that you can ask to be added to that ensures no further contact (though occasionally, every few years you might get one dropping by to check that it's still you at the address). It's worked very well for me so far. :)

Incidentally, I found Jehova's Witnesses on the doorstep of our block of flats today ringing all the bells. The conversation went a little like this :

JW : Do you live here?
    ME : Yes
    JW : Which flat?
    Me : Flat X
JW : OK, please take a leaflet
    Me : OK

Leaflet given to me and off they poodled...

Similarly, when I was off work this week a JW rang my bell :

    Me (via intercom) : Hello?
JW : Good afternoon. My name is X and I am a JW. Would you like me to leave you some literature on my religion?
    Me : No thank you.
JW : OK, have a nice day.

So they dont all harrass! Big up the Jehova's Witnesses of Bedford!

Although I remember some JW knocking on our door on Christmas Day as a child (I kid you not!). My mum went crazy at them as they wouldn't leave the doorstep - if memory serves me correctly it went along the lines of 'How dare you disturb me on my religious day just because you don't celebrate it!'

I've got a Give Blood sticker on my front door so they pass me by. I got stopped by a couple of them as I was getting out of my car in the car park once and they asked if I lived round here, to which I replied "yes" and told them that I lived in the house with the Give Blood sticker on the door - they soon scooted off!

Someone tried to stop me last Monday. I was carrying an empty catbox and sobbing my eyes out :( when I said no he became very persistent. In the end I lost my temper and told him to f*ck off.

I'd have swung the catbox at him! (That's made me mad ... Hope you're ok?)
