You've got the system restore disc, that's all you need apart from somewhere to store your data while you do it
Did you scan with tdsskiller? and chkdsk?

the peak commit after a freeze is also relevant, as it will identify if it is ram related.!!

Yes, I did scan with tdsskiller and chkdsk - nothing found.
I am away for a while soon, so maybe will pluck up courage and use the system restore disk when I get back.0
