It's NOT a load of old COBBLERS ! ::
On Friday, customers who ask for one of the 'Big 5' species of fish - cod, haddock, tuna, salmon and prawns - from Sainbsurys fish counters will be offered a free portion of hake, pouting, megrim, coley, rainbow trout, or mackerel .
I'd be happy if it was load of POLLOCKS :rotfl:
and if anyone is "concerned" about MEGRIM .....
...it is a flat fish from the brill and turbot family and is found in European seas
They say on the goodfishguide. co .uk mentioned on bbc youandyours
that ,people should avoid the wild variety of Talbot & Megrim as its endangered & buy the farmed one0 -
Got a piece of free pouting which I'm happy about as I've never tried it before. I get really frustrated when we go to the fish counter and all they sell is cod, haddock and salmon. It's really bad in the supermarkets around here for variety!0

I'm confused!
-Panga is now being introduced via chip shops as a cheaper alternative to cod.
-Slimming world are advising members to eat it, giving healthy opton recipes.
-This fish has been around a while so does it's value for money outweigh safety?
Lots of pros and cons if you look at www.
whytraveltofrance.com/2008/01/30/why-you-shouldnt-eat-pangas-fish-in-france-or-anywhere-else-for-that-matter/
I'd ove to know why are there no guidlines stating that fresh foods such as fish should be labelled with their source (country/region produced)?
Think I'll stick to chicken and risk bird flu or beef and get mad cow-if I've not aready got it!0
