Listening to BBC News channel (Fri 06:45) they have just mentioned that to try and get people to eat fish other than cod/haddock/ plus a couple of others which are in serious decline if you go into a major supermarket ([STRIKE]they didn't say which one[/STRIKE]Sainsburys on Friday) to [STRIKE]try and [/STRIKE]buy one of these they will offer you an alternative fish portion to try FOR FREE.

typical, my kids love fish but my car is in the garage! aaargh...

if it's one portion per customer, surely you want a whole meal's worth, not just one portion... it sounds like you'll need to get everyone who's eating to buy something each in order to get enough free fish to feed everyone...

and i recommend making goujons, my kids will eat any fish if it's goujons

I've had river cobbler. It's nowhere near as good as what we are used to. It seems watery and flavourless. I don't like basa either.

River Cobbler used to be fairly tasty, but just feels like eating cotton wool now. I think that RC and Basa may be the same fish (Basa perhaps sounds slightly more upmarket as it lacks the cobbers.....)

I like any fish, unfortunately we don't have a Sainsbury around here.

River cobbler not so good. However we love Basa. We pan fry it and then add some soy at the end. Delicious.

the problem with river cobbler is that it's travelled half way around the world to get here... isn't this whole free alternative fish deal part of the campaign to get people eating more readily available and sustainable fish?
personally, i think river cobbler, basa, panga or whatever other guise it is sold under, tastes of nothing much, and has a revolting consitency so would say avoid it because it's yuckypoo

just had a look on wikipedia to find what other names this fish goes by... how about this one "Asian Sewer Catfish" !

Asian Sewer Catfirsh - My word! I don't think anyone would want it even if it was free with that name!
