Deterring People From Hanging Round my Door?

When you go into some shops you see these cardboard cut-outs of Police which are suppose to deter any shoplifters.
Maybe something like that, ask Addey has he got an old picture of him in uniform.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Perhaps you can contact you local neighbourhood police officer, in some areas you can even contact them by mobile / text etc. You could mention that you are concerned about what it happening etc and the police may well be able to undertake a patrol every now and then. I would think once these people are aware that they are not as hidden from police as they thought they were hopefully they would move on.0

Drunks and corner boys are like vampires, they like the dark. Put the light in and that'll get rid of them.0

You said its down a secluded alleyway. Why not have fit a security gate and possible a post box for mail and or wireless door bell, or just lock the gate when you are not at home
Lighting would be a good idea too. You can even get reasonable good solar lighting assuming you can get enough sun light on the panels. I have one which I use down a passage way I have but its secure just helps me see better getting to bins and back gate0 -
Thank you everyone for your replies
Itching powder?
No seriously I think the camera and lights are a good idea.
Is there anywhere you can put a gate?
We could put a gate at the bottom of the steps, we did have one before but it broke after a couple of weeks so don't know if it worked! I think your right it would act as a deterrent, if people REALLY wanted to, they could still get to outside our door even if we had a gate as they could go up next doors steps, and walk over downstairs' extension (sounds like alot of hassle but it's really not at all!) but a gate would definitely sound out a "your not welcome here" message, and maybe we could talk next door into getting one as well.Wet the steps
Sometimes the drunk people kindly do that for me!Throw cats at them.
Now that would probably work as I have two main coons and they have very large cats! When you go into some shops you see these cardboard cut-outs of Police which are suppose to deter any shoplifters.

They have a large sticker of a policeman in the window of my local home bargains, I certainly find it quite disconcerting and I'm not even a shop lifter!paulofessex wrote: »Perhaps you can contact you local neighbourhood police officer, in some areas you can even contact them by mobile / text etc. You could mention that you are concerned about what it happening etc and the police may well be able to undertake a patrol every now and then. I'd put a movement activated light, a gate and a notice with a rottweiler's (sp?) photo on it saying "Beware of the Dog". Hope you get a solution to the problem." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Get some Jehovah's Witness magazines and go out and try and recruit them.
Or double glazing/fitted kitchen/bathroom brochures and try and sell them something.
Or pester them for charity collections.
They'll soon get bored of the mad woman pestering them and will move on
Here I go again on my own....0 -
Get some Jeyes fulid ,mix it with water in a strong solution and wash the area down regularly. The smell will be a mix of both clean and uncomfortable for loiterers..Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
