Hi can anyone tell me where I stand regarding an item of clothing I sold about 3-4 weeks ago. I sent this item recorded delivery to a guy who wasnt in and told two weeks later he hadnt recieved the item. I told him to get in touch with his local PO sorting office. He has now got back in touch demanding his money back saying it has been returned to me and it hasnt. Where do I stand on this situation. He claims he needed this item last week and I am sure he is after a refund. I already left him feedback and I am his only feedback score.

Unfortunately there isn't a lot here you can do. The buyer will win a paypal dispute as you can't prove delivery. Stall the buyer if you can, but you do need to be prepared to refund and if you don't get the items back via the Royal mail to put in a claim to them to cover your losses.

Paypal require proof of receipt by the buyer, if the tracking number does not confirm that the package has been received then you will lose a chargeback.
Recorded is hardly worth the added 68p in my opinion as so many buyers are not in to accept the parcels, some are elft without a signature and some still just disappear. I find I lose slightly more recorded items than I do standard mail.

I reckon this could take 3 weeks to get back to you (it goes via Belfast). Assuming it shows as undelivered the easiest thing to do is either refund or I would prefer to resend.
The question you need to ask your buyer is why they took 2 weeks to contact you, they are someway at fault. I am aslo assuming postie didn't leave a card but even so.0 -
Go onto the Royal Mail website and see if you can track the item.
IIAM you'll be able to see if they've tried to deliver it.
My guess is that he's pd off that they always try to deliver when he's out and he's taking it out on you.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
Wait until he does a paypal dispute, enter the tracking number when requested and leave paypal to sort it out, i wouldnt do any thing until then"Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0

Why tie up your paypal account though by forcing a buyer to go to dispute? It is just asking for negative feedback.
If this is resolved amicably the OP should end up either with his item back, or compensation from the RM and a positive from the buyer.

My worry is that this is the only time they have bought or sold anything on ebay and they are unlikely to understand the importance of feedback and will leave me a negative anyway no matter what I do.Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*

First thing you need to do is enter the tracking number on the Royal mail website, this will tell you the delivery status of the item. If it says that they have no delivery information then there is the chance that it is lost in the post. If the Royal Mail do not show that it was delivered to your buyer you will need to refund. If you wish to avoid a negative and the item was not valuable I would advise refunding, apologising and say that although the transaction was not fulfilled you are willing to leave positive feedback once they have.0 -

Making sure your customer is happy is more important than feedback IMHO, I would do as other posts have said, check on Royal Mail's website and take it from there and refund if necessary0
