there...but, they weren't regulated so can dismiss your complaint. So, you make a complaint, and see what theyc oem abck with. If it's negative, you find out who the insureres were and see if they will take responsibility for it.
As the original loan was sold to me by The Fitting Service, should I write to them first?

A 1995 sale predates regulation by a long way, so FOS will not get involved, whilst a court case can be timebarred.

I think the chance of a successful complaint are virtually nil.

Yes, but they also weren't regulated, so again, your complaint being upheld is virtually nil.

  • My dad had a Currys Chargecard which was from Trinity finance but dates back to 1987 to sometime in the 90's I think. He still has all statements showing the PPI payments, is it worth contacting Santander Complaints department or not?

I haven't seen one succesful complaint being upheld by Santander pre 2005 yet.

However, to complain to the underwriters, you do need a rejection letter from Sanatander first.

  • Thanks, not sure if its worth all the hassle! :( Think it was only £2 something a month so not a huge amount!

    Doesn't sound like PPI..
  • I lied, it was about 40p - 50p/month when he first had the card and went up to £2 odd in 2000.

It is defo PPI but doesn't look good for getting anything back!

I had a loan originally, and it was about £6-7 a month. However, the issue is not if the money owed is lots or not, but that they charged it immorally in the first place.

I think people are only pointing to the amounts involved because your chances of success are virtually nil. In other words, at least you won't have lost a lot .
