If its a crime involving moral turpitude then the arrest would make you inadmissable as you would fail the ESTA question. The question is quite precise in its wording.

Agreed. And whether the average Brit understands what moral turpitude is is questionable. And given that 25% of the population are functionally illiterate (I'm making that figure up but it's quite high) they probably don't understand the question at all.

Well, that turned into the cubegame and scottishperson2 slanging match. Don't suppose it helped the OP at all.
I would say if you're in any doubt at all, apply to the US embassy. May be an expense and it'll just be met with a "no problem" approach, but better to find out here rather than when you arrive at the US. Does your travel insurance cover a trip ruined because you're denied entry?

Why would he go to the embassy, he wasn't arrested or convicted and speeding isn't a CiMT even if he was

I've been stopped for speeding in Scotland and it was too fast to give me a fixed penalty at the roadside. I was not arrested. The officer told me that the Procurator Fiscal would write to me and most likely make me an offer of points and a fine
