Mushrooms and my local supermarket! RANT

I have a choice of one supermarket.
Like many others who are not car owners, choice for shopping is limited! I tend not to do weekly shopping, more of a day to day stuff.
However I have noticed over the years that this shop is turning more and more into the lcoal convenience store. There is a big 'on the edge of town' supermarket that most people would do their big shop in.
You may recall me saying I couldn't buy a whole lettuce (just horrid plastic bags of gas and soon to rot leaves!), or that the baking section of flour, sugar, eggs etc was now down to 4 feet, a coca cola stand having more floor space.
Now ..... mushrooms! They started getting in large punnets, but as a single, I have only ever bought what I needed ( half a dozen or so!!) and now the big loose mushroom basket has stopped! Its the big punnet or nothing! I enquired and they have stopped selling loose mushrooms as the wastage was high!
What makes me cross is that many peopple think they are getting a bargain ....BUT we know that so much that people, buy ends up in the bin a week later!!

I hope you feel better now
I'll move this one across to the Vent Board where I'm sure a few people would like to join in.
And yes, I sympathise, it's much the same for me.
Edit: Oops - hit the wrong board. Could a BG kindly move this please?Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. ITA with you!
I don't have a car so I can't nip out to the "local" (over 5 miles away) supermarket whenever I feel like it. I do a weekly shop online but being only human I often miss a item or two from my list. My local co-op used to have a reasonably good range of items to buy by weight or in smaller amounts but recently it's gone to pre packed...not that fresh...buy it or do without, itemsAND they charge a b!oody fortune for those things too

Unfortunately that is the way the 21st century seems to be going ... why sell the product when you can include a plastic tray , cling film and a sticky label and charge a bit more (and not very environemntalyl friendly).
I have become aare that a person buying for 1 is not particularly well supported these days with BOGOF's, economy size packs etc. ... seems to cater to the family while forgetting the loan buyer My mother had a problem she would never eat a whole cabbage (or whatever) but the prepacked stuff cost more than a cabbage and was considrably less .. so she did without ... silly
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0
