just learn the lesson: as soon as your out the 6-12 month contract, cancel. if you upgrade, always ask "will this lock me into a further minimum subscription period?" if they say yes, never take it!

The bulk of the calls seem to be starting with 08 or 09 these are disability shops and equipment/ services as my son is disabled. i prefer to go over to a pay as you go.

09 numbers are premium rate numbers that can cost up to £1-50 per minute to call.

I should avoid calling these numbers, particularly if you are going onto 'pay as you go'.

Just looked at Vodafone as an example and 08 are 25p minute but 09 start at 50p to £2 minimum charge (minimum one minute call charge).
Could be very expensive for OP on PAYG as well

I have been a sky customer for about 10 years and was ok with the TV package, but i made a huge mistake i upgraded my package got a HD box and added the phone and broadband which has added a whopping £60 or so to my bill each month i have 6 months to go before i can cancel, well 5 months and then 6 it will be the last bill.
If i stop paying will they then send me the minimum for the remainder of the contract ?
I want to go over to a pay as you go phone and get rid of this £100 a month bill
    Thanks for any answers

Just a thought - might not apply though.... we moved our phone and broadband over to sky in jan/feb this year, and have major problems with the tv side of things (which has hopefully been fully sorted now :) ) and i did cancel the sky but sky have managed to sort out the problems and keep our business (thought i couldnt cancel the phone and broadband due to being in contract!).

But i received a letter from Sky today advising that they hadnt sent me a welcome letter and due to this blip on their part i could cancel the account within the next 8 days from date of receipt of the letter (ie 8 days from 20/6/11).

The question is did you (can you) remember if you received a welcome letter from Sky - apparently i didnt that is why i received the letter and have upto 8 working days to cancel our phone/broadband account without incurring any cancellation charges....
