A very bad idea, you will get your van broken into. 1000's of companies dont advertise on vans for this reason, We have a fleet of 24 vans at work and none have advertising on them. If you want to advertise your bussiness try local paper or yellow pages.
    Kind Regards

I have the mgnetic signs but I have to remove them and clean the panel underneath to stop rust on the panel.

There are times when having a signwritten van can be an issue, so if so the signs come off and go onto the bulkead.

One builder on another forum claims to do work for one or two celebraties, who ask him to come to the house in a non sign written van. On the odd occasion I may be asked I can just remove the signs.

we got our van signwritten and we do get people who say 'oh i saw your van and thought i'd give you a ring'. It definitely works. We got ours sign written in vinyl for about £200 and it really looks the part.

Yes, possibly there is a slight increased theft risk, but perhaps an alarm or strengthened locks would help - which if he has valuable equipment in it he should have fitted anyway, irrespective of whether its signwritten or not.

We had large magnetic signs made for our van earlier this year plus a few small ones as well that go on car doors. A lot cheaper that sign writing, and when you change your van you can take the signs off, and put them on new one. Also your vehicle is worth more without the writing on.
If like us you travel a lot with your van, you can always take the signs off if you need to. I was very skeptical at first, but very pleased we got them. They cost around the £250 mark.
I don't know if it would help, but I notice a lot of vans state ' there is nothing of value left in this van overnight'

Yes i've seen lots of vans with little signs on the back to that effect - i think its a good idea.

Dont forget vinyl can be easily removed when selling the van with a hair dryer, so vinyl signwriting neednt affect the value.
  • Once or twice, I've seen a van at one of my neighbour's and gone along to ask the guy for a quote. Without the lettering, I'd have had not idea of the reason for a visit and not asked.
"Some say the cup is half empty, while others say it is half full. However, this is skirting around the issue. The real problem is that the cup is too big."
  • I would def use this as a source of inspiration if I was looking for a builder etc. If I saw one of my neighbours etc using someone, I would think it was probably a good sign.

One tip is that he should get an 0845 number or similar so that it can be redirected if his phone number changes. No need to redo the van's details then and if you only used it for the van you'd know how effective it was.

One good way to see how much interest your sign written car/van attracts to your website for example is to have your domain name different to that of your usual domain. By this l mean if you have a co.uk website, purchase the .info domain and have this on your advertising (of course you re-direct visitors using .info to your main .co.uk site) it just enables you to have a site meter attached to the .info

Also don't forget family and friends cars, just a simple small Vinl Decal Sticker on the back window of their cars will also generate interest as l feel people are curious and will have a look on the internet when they can
