BT Broadband and phone....Good deal ?

Moving in to new property soon, so rang around a few providers to supply a new land line with evening and weekend calls and unlimited broadband.
BT seemed to offer the best deal which is ........ An 18 month contract, evening and weekend calls, unlimited broadband, free land line connection.
All above for £10 per month for the 18 months and if I pay 12 months line rental up front, the line rental would be £10 per month also........So £20 per month in total.
Is this a good deal ?.........If not, I'd be grateful for any alternatives with the supply of a new landline included.
Thanks

Help would really be appreciated.

Hi,
I think thats a good deal - as its the deal I'm on - and I looked around and couldn't find better !
£10 a month for unlimited broadband is very good if you are not in an LLU area. I was a bit concerned as had heard some negative comments about bt broadband, but have not had any issues, speed has been good (in fact it went up 2mbps compared to previous supplier). Got constant updates on progress via email and mobile phone, homehub sent when it was meant to, in fact was very impressed all round. If you use peer to peer sharing, they do throttle speeds at peak times, but I do not use that, so isn't an issue
I would say definitely go for it..
Also have the £10 month line rental (if you pay 12 months in advance) which has been fine as well. You do get free evening / weekend calls. If you phone in the day, make sure you subscribe to 18185.co.uk service as this only costs 5p per call. Don't use BT for peak times, as they charge lots ! If you can find an Orchid dialler on ebay or anywhere, use that as it will automatically dial the correct number at any given time so it routes to correct supplier. If you make a lot of daytime calls, it may work out cheaper to subcribe to bt's anytime plan.
I haven't regretted it one bit. If you want any further help, feel free to ask or pm me.0 -
i have just received a card through the door from bt. landline and b/b for £13 per month, 18 month contract. 3 months free , sign up online 4months free.
in the last few days i moved my landline to primus and was going to sort out the b/b next so i may take bt up on this and cancel the primus should still be well within a cooling off period.

sorry just looked at the offer online and it appears you still need to pay line rental so a crap deal really. i'll let primus take over the phone and sort out bb/ with someone else.

Hi bloodnok and mjfp509..is your offer the same package which is advertised as £28 on their website (5th one down)?

If so, which number did you call to get this? Really surprised that you can get a 64% discount just by calling them, but if you can then I'm going to do it!0 -
No, its not that link. Just called their cancellations/rententions number (got it from some posts on this site, so do search). Said I would switch over to broadband to them if they could offer me same deal as my father had been given as a retention offer when his contract was up - £10 per month option 3 broadband (and what some others' had been given if you read this site). We agreed that as long as I also took the line rental (paid 12 months in advance at £10 per month) and calls with them (evening / weekend), she could do it. Have read some people have managed to get anytime calls for under £3 by asking, but she wouldn't give me that offer. They were getting anytime calls, line rental and option 3 Broadband for around or under £23 (again, search this site). Was easier than I thought, might just depend who you get (as always with life). Tried to give me really good deal with bt vision as well, but said I'd think about it, but never bothered.0

Thanks mjfp509, I have a pending order so I called them and said I wasn't happy with the package, they said that the £10 unlimited broadband offer has recently ended but they could offer me 40GB broadband with weekend only calls for £11, which is better than the 10GB for £13 which I would have been paying (I'm not interested in calls). Still quite surprised that you can unlock these hidden deals just by calling them. If anyone else is interested I called 0800 800 030.0

If you read my post, the line rental is included and works out at £10 per month if you pay £120 upfront.
So the package .....£10 and the line rental £10 equals £20 per month in total.............I don't think it's crap and have decided to go for it.
I'll let you know how it goes.0 -

All she said was that the package was the equivalent of option 3........She said it was £23 but knocked it down to £10 as a "Special Offer", and as I said I've opted to pay £120 upfront for the £10 per month line rental.
I've had the e-mail confirming free line installation etc as per my original post0
