BT 10GB monthly usage - will it be enough for me?

Options
Hi

Thinking of changing to BT and notice they have a 10gb monthly usuage limit (which costs more if you exceed it).

I surf the net most evenings but rarely download music or movies - will this usuage be enough for me?

Watching an Iplayer television programme, or You Tube, or making Skype calls all will eat into your allowance. I am on line a lot but keep data heavy tasks such as these to a minimum. General surfing email chat room etc uses around 1gb every 5 days so I am ok with the 10gb as I can factor in some You Tube etc and don't go over the top.

  • As above - usage must be quite similar. We get through about 6GB to 8GB per month and that's working from home - web development, that said, files transferred are rarely large - plus one or two TV shows a month.

I don't play online games or download music or download movies (bar the occasional Youtube video) - they are the things that generally eat up the allowance. I do use the net quite a lot. Last month I used less than 1.5 Gb. With nearly three-quarters of this month gone, I have used about 0.75Gb.

When you sign up for BT start using their website to keep track of your daily useage - I check it out every morning and it helps me keep within 10gb. If you appear to be going over your limit they will send a warning email once you reach 7gb and if you go over 10gb once they will not charge you but a second month and they will. They also make it quite easy to upgrade if necessary. I am more disciplined nowadays and don't leave the laptop just running if i am not using it. I recommend that to you as well
