I have booked a car on the Jet2.com website along with flights to Alicante. I am due to pick the car up from Alicante Airport. After reading this thread, I notice that Jet2.com uses Avis, Alama, Eurocar, Sixt, Solmar, Record as well as GoldCar. I suppose once I get to Alicante I will get allocated a car from any of these companies without a choice? Of course after reading this thread I wish to avoid a car from GoldCar.
You will be overcharged for fuel, if you use another persons credit card they will charge you, they will also charge you for super collision waver damage (don't take a policy with jet2.com, they use a company called carhire3000). What they say you will pay will increase.0 -

Insurance & Waivers Information
When you hire a car through TravelJigsaw, your car rental agreement will normally include collision damage waiver & theft waiver. Collision Damage Waiver will waive your liability to pay for any damage caused to the vehicle during the period of hire. Theft Waiver provides coverage for the theft or damage resulting from attempted theft of the vehicle, its parts and accessories up to their full value and any loss that our car rental partner may incur. Both are subject to certain exclusions. Your liability is waived subject to you paying a charge, referred to as an “excess” which limits your liability to the cost of the excess only. In some instances, an excess will not apply and you will be advised of this at the time of making your booking.
Your rental includes Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection with zero excess.
You will be required to leave a deposit of €300 when collecting the vehicle.
This deposit usually takes the form of a credit card, although cash is an option at some locations so please contact a member of our team if you require this facility as this must be confirmed prior to collecting the vehicle. If the vehicle is damaged during the rental, you will be charged up to a maximum of the excess amount. In the event that the renter has behaved recklessly or negligently or driven under the influence of drugs or alcohol you may be liable for the full cost Please note in common with most car rental policies there are exceptions to cover which may include windscreens, tires, the underside or interior of the vehicle, towing charges & replacement keys. Please check your agreement fully at the time of renting for exact exclusions. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact our team Please note a number of options may be available to buy locally which reduce your risk or can provide further cover to you & your belongings0 -

TBH cancel it and book one yourself. I contacted recordone and they quoted me 254 euro for a week hire, phone about and find the cheapest deal or wait till you get to the airport and play one off against another to get a cheaper price.0 -
i used goldcar last week in malaga, we booked it directly on the internet, the terms and conditions stated quite clearly that there was a surcharge for fuel(73 euro's in total for a fiesta) , and that there is no leeway on bringing it back with half a tank, the insurance included was adequate for our purposes and we declined the extra that was offered when we collected the car, did you forget to read the T&C's before you booked the car? Did you book the cheapest car you could find and then expect to get treated as if you had booked the most expensive? Remember if you pay peanuts in this world you can only expect monkeys.........0

If you go into a shop to buy a advertise shirt for a fiver would you expect to pay a tenner? They should give you the full price you pay, t&c's are a way of ripping you off. Jesus I took out twoi CWD policies one in the uk & one in spain after being told by the Goldcar desk my UK on was no use. The reason they don't tell you the full price is they know people won't hire a car.0 -
This is how much we get ripped off 1.4 207 diesel has a 50 litre tank at 1.21 per litre it costs 60 euro, so why overcharge by 20 euro, this must make them so much money.0
-
If the full empty policy was not in force I would have only been 30 euro as I gave it back with half a tank. This would have saved me 50 euro, so is that fair?0

i only paid the advertised price, i was aware of the fuel surcharge when i booked-somebody has to be paid to drive it to the garage and fill it up, £20 seems a little excessive but i was aware of the price when i booked, when you go to curry's and buy a new pc the sales guy spends an hour trying to sell you insurance that you dont need in order for the company to make extra money, same with goldcars "extra's" insurance , you dont need it so dont buy it, were you not made aware of the fuel tank policy when you booked? If this was not featured in the t&c's when you booked and it was "sprung" on you at the last min then i can understand your upset and i would have refused to pay it on the spot, but our T&C's stated quite clearly there was a surcharge when we booked, Mrs K worked for the automotive insurance industry for years and read everything thoroughly before we paid our money , did you read through all the 'orrible small print before you paid your money? did you book the cheapest deal you could find?
P.S T&C's are NOT a way of ripping you off, they are a legal requirement, would you take out a mortgage without reading them? or buuy life insurance maybe?0 -
I phoned Jet2.com's Carhire3000 after my above post to cancel the booking and book through Lara Cars instead. I was told my deposit of £35 is non-refundable.0
