A student friend of mine needs immediate connection with the internet while waiting for her Broadband package to arrive. Which service would you recommend for her?

I'd better add a bit more to that last post. I've got a modem she can use. I read a thread from last year where Fast4Net was recommended, but I can't find a link for it -- has it gone out of business? That seemed to be the cheapest option, unless it's a 12 month or whatever signup. Apparently pay as you go can be horrendously expensive!0 -
If she just wants internet access before her broadband arrives and it is going to arrive quickly (within a month), then I'd take an AOL 1 month dial-up free trial as it's unlimited, no disconnections after 2hrs and best of all, free for the first month.
They'll try and convince her to goto broadband with them when she cancels but she doesn't have to at all.
That would be a much more "hassle-free" way of getting internet access while she's waiting for her broadband gear to arrive and her line to be activated.
There are broadband ISP's who will allow you to join on a monthly contract, but it sounds from your post as if she has already ordered broadband, which would (I believe), stop another ISP from fulfilling an order because the first company will have their marker on the line. I believe the only way to get rid of that would be to cancel the first order.0 -
