Don't bother. Treading Standards are useless regarding private parking company. This is down to the fact they obtained all their information regarding PPCs from the British Parking Association which is the trade association for the parking "industry" and financed by their members.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • My wife has just got a £60 or £100 ticket for parking at the Shirley Southampton store of The Range which she visits on a monthly basis - that will end now as we will NEVER go in one of their stores again - how short sighted - what a bunch of idiots - we have not as yet contacted either the parking company or The Range who will obviously react the same way they have to other people on here - I may well write to them and tell them what a bunch of etc etc ... you fill in the deleted expletives!

My question is how has the legislation change affected the likelihood of the Parking Eye barstewards following through and collecting this money - they are quoting the new Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 which they seem to be claiming is a strengthening of their case for making these ridiculous overcharges. Anyone got any ideas as to whether this is true?

I have been to this store with my wife on several occasions and have never seen the warning signs I will be going back just to check out the signs and have a very short conversation with the shop manager.

Just what planet do these people live on that they think there are so many customers around that they can afford to seriously upset loyal and long-standing customers like this and just wash their hands of it...

    Ignore Parking Eye.
I would recomend a very strongly worded letter of complaint to the Range head office. Tell them that you are not happy with the conduct of their agents , you will take your custom elswhere in future and you will tell everyone you can about their and their agents actions.
By the way, the new legislation means nothing much , just that they can send their begging letters to the registerd keeper if they dont know who the driver is! Their begging letters are still just as unenforcible as they were before the change

Just ignore Parking Eye or tease them like I do ( I purposely break their rules and then send them emails ;) ).

DO tell the Range that you won't ever be using them again and why.

The new legislation has no real affect on you just as long as you or your wife are the registered keeper. Once Parking Eye don't get a response from you they will write to the RK asking who the driver was - that's all they can do. The answer is just to continue ignoring.
