Do you know how much you will get because if its statutory won't they only work it on the 2 days per week for the last 17 weeks for so?
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

The op will also get 1.5 weeks pay for every year he has worked up to 20 years, so that's 30 weeks service pay + any unused holidays.

McKneff, don't forget you can claim Pension Tax Credit until you hit 65 (let your pensions mature a bit more).

When i offered (to save the company some money) to drop another day down to 2 days i was a bit canny and offered on the proviso that if redundancy came then it would be calculated on a 3 day week:D which my boss agreed to and confirmed today, as far as i know I am entitled to 30 weeks:j at 3 days a week and Accrued holiday pay.

Pension credits are out, I took my pension when I was 60 (mainly because of early deaths of parents/grandparents etc) which I was quite happy to do. We have substantial savings also.
We should have income of about £1200 a month so life is looking good for retirement. Im seriously thinking of blowing the whole lot on a once in a lifetime cruise for me and the OH, the kids can have the house and the savings. I could pop my clogs tomorrow, (well I hope till not after 9th September when I will get paid off)
HaHa, me talking about a cruise, I usually have to have an injection before I take money out of my ISA:rotfl:
    But, hey, say lavvy

I'm a 'she' by the way

Annie - congratulations on your redundancy, although it is sad that your employer has decided to make you redundant, you are very positive about it which is great.

I can remember when I was made redundant - it wasnt a pleasant experience for me because I was ill at the time but now I run my own business and I am miles better. Redundancy was the best thing that ever happened to me.

Hope you enjoy your retirement too.

Im phylosophical at my age about redundancy but before I got this job I was made redundant and I was mortified, i was inconsolible, i loved my job with a passion, I cried for a week no kidding, what a bloody year I had in 1982, i got made redundant, my mum died (coincidentally todays date) unexpectedly, My OH was in and out of hospital with eye ops. I was glad to see the back of the year to be honest.

But what doesnt kill you makes you stronger, it will all turn out for the best as you've found out.

Thanks all, hope my positivity has helped too. Ive certainly been helped by the responses.
    I luve this site me..............

We've planned a 'big fat redundancy bash' with dinner, dancing and a tribute act, 40 of us going, with ex colleagues joining us, going to be a great night and a celebration of all we achieved and a toast to friends :D

I want to come too, are you anywhere near North Yorkshire, you could tell your colleagues Ive been working in the cellar.:D

Oh dear no, we're not anywhere near North Yorkshire but I'll raise my (full) glass to everyone who is being made redundant

    Hi,
Do please remember that it is not you that is redundant, it is the job.
That helped me as i thought it was me that had got it wrong and had to go.
