What eventual speed can I expect from moving to ADSL2+

An update as my ten day training period finished some days ago.
My speed is in the region of 11 mb wireless but interestingly 15 mb wired but had 18 mb at the highest. But I have read that this is normal to lose on average 30% with wireless which is a bit of a shock?
You might want to investigate the channel stats. Try doing the speed tests directly plugged into the router.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Depends on how many other people are on the same channel as you. Oh the 30% loss is from 54Mbps...

As my OP they are about 4 mb more when wired.
I will check the channel as my router is set at auto channel select. Not sure if that s good, or not?????0 -
Do not keep asking your router to re-synch to get better speeds, the system will take this as unstable line and DROP your speeds !!!0

I have not re-started (is this what you mean by re-syncing) router and just checked and it has been connected for weeks. I keep getting around 15 mb when I connect the cable (router to laptop).0 -
looking reasonable.... to see what's happening with your wifi, download and run inssider:-

this will let you see graphically if your router is operating on same channel/too close to another router in your vicinity. From this, you can choose which channel your router operates on in order to minimise the interference, and so you should see your speedtests rise when on wifi.
For example, I've done this with my router and now don't really see any difference between wired and wifi speedtests
There are other tweaks around which could help you, but start with the basics......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
I live in an old house with some really solid thick walls.
Wifi speed is simply related to how far (ie how many walls!) is the laptop away from the router.0 -

The frustrating thing is I am sitting about one metre from my router, in master socket, no other electrical items anywhere near.0 -
Gone bcak to my old router and now getting 18 mb wireless test after test and all day. Yipee:j0

out of interest, what routers and firmware are the old and new ones?? I ask as some are known for poor wifi operation and am wondering if this has been your case.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
