What eventual speed can I expect from moving to ADSL2+

I was getting a rock solid 6.5 mb on an up to 8mb service and am now in my first 10 day training period with my move to ADSL2+. The speeds have been all over the place - one day at 6mb and later the same day at 15 mb. Usually though just under 10 mb.

Anyone any idea where I may end up as I was hoping to get 15 mb not 10 mb?

    Mmm.

Thanks for the help but I do feel somewhat disappointed if that is the best I can expect. I called another ISP who felt 15 was possible but I will wait and see.

It really depends on your line. What are your line stats, esp. downstream attenuation (in dB) ?? You'll need to log in to your router to find them. Post them back here and you can be advised in more detail.

In the meantime, the most accurate speed estimator is here - plug in your attenuation and you'll get your speed estimate. Remember, your attenuation on ADSL2+ will read around 3dB more than on ADSLMax, so if you're on 2+ now, subtract 3dB rfrom your attenuation and use this figure in the calculator....

Also, which ISP? LLU or IPStream connection? More details will help :)
    ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

With Plusnet. 7th day in on my move to ADSL2+ 21CN

    Downstream Connection Speed 22119 kbps
    Downstream Line Attenuation 11.0 db
    Downstream Noise Margin 3.3 db

    Upstream Connection Speed 443 kbps
    Upstream Line Attentuation 5.4 db
    Upstream Noise Margin 32.4 db

Hope this is what you are asking for?

Holy !!!!!! !!! You live in the exchange ;):D

yes, those are the line stats. You're on an IPStream connection, not LLU, and once the line training period is done, you should settle around 17-20Meg download.......... you lucky ...err...person :D

Yes 'as the crow flies' I see it is a few hundred metres away but I didn't realise until I checked earlier.

Thanks for your time and I will post back once training is over to give the evetual speed:beer::beer::beer:

the downstream is very good.. close to theoretical maximum for ADSL2+ (24Mbps)

The upstream is also very good for the line profile, but it's a bit crippled compared to the potential speed..

With G992.5 Annex A ADSL2+ and an uncapped business account, you should get up to 1Mbps upstream sync speed.

When Annex M is rolled out, upstream sync speed could be as high as 2.5Mbps...

An update as my ten day training period finished some days ago.

My speed is in the region of 11 mb wireless but interestingly 15 mb wired but had 18 mb at the highest. But I have read that this is normal to lose on average 30% with wireless which is a bit of a shock?
