I do not know how accurate moneysupermarket website is but am getting different quotes for my dual online energy saver 12 tariffs. Based on an annual usuage of 2694 kwh electricity and annual usuage of 8469 kwh gas, customer service from SP told me I am now paying £612.85 but after the increase in AugustI will be paying £861. How come on uswitch and money supermarket comparison website, it comes to £786.78 a yr with the August increase cheaper that the SP calculation. I am also interested on the capped price till 2013, and was given a price of £816 whereas on price comparison, I get £744.15. I am very confused which is accurate. I was told there is no penalty if I switch to another supplier before 1st August. I understand the switch can take 4 - 6 weeks, will I have to pay a penalty if the switch takes longer than 6 weeks. I will do the switch by bext week after I have considered my option. I have found EDF fixed 2014 much cheaper than SP. Thanks

I have also found Uswitch and the other websites of this nature to be a bit vague with figures.

I'm doing the calculations now as a SP customer and there's really no substitute to sitting down with a copy of your last bill and a calculator to work out the true cost savings

The most accurate way is to find out what your annual KW/h for gas and electric are.
Chanes are that you will use the same year on year roughly.. Of course the ultimate goal is to manage down your consumption
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

We need to know which supply region (or first part of your postcode) you are in to advise your annual cost.

If you plan to switch, you need to give notice to SP before 01 August, and the new supplier needs to have contacted SP within 15 working days of that notice being received by SP.

Did the price comparisons via the MSE website, and found that Scottish Power would be a better deal for me.
    So I switched to S.P.
Within three months, they've announced a 20% increase in gas, and a 10% increase in electricity.
    I am NOT amused !!!

Your usage on OES12 for the next 12 months will cost £787. Where did you get your figure of £861 from?

(Edit: at current prices, it costs £562 - where did you get £612 from?)

The capped 2013 price will cost £748. Again where did you get your price of £816 from?

I got my price from Scottish Power Customer service by email. I have emailed to query but have not an exact answer. I did get £748 on money supermarket for capped 2013 and £732 with EDF fixed 2014, I have heard from the SP rep and was told there is nothing SP can offer me as competitive as EDF fixed 2014 and he has therefore updated my records to show my intention of may be I will switch supplier. Thanks

You need to get to the bottom of the discrepency; it would suggest you and SP are not using the same consumption figures.

You really should then refer to a comparison site to see what is available. EDF fixed 2014 is not the cheapest for you (based on your consumption figures) whether you wish to consider all of the tariffs or just the fixed/capped rate ones. It is, however, the cheapest if you really want a fix until 2014.
