The prices you have mentioned aren't too bad. When i had a performance car at 21 (modded BMW 325i Motorsport - insurance group 17 i think) the cheapest fully comp quote i got was £2800. The company who were constantly the cheapest over the 5 years i had the car were Sabre. I had to go through Swinton to get a quote as they don't deal with the public direct.0

£744 is a good price. If you want to get it a lot cheaper you need to find another car which hasn't got such a 'sporty' image.

Thanks everyone for all your help... Ive actually already bought the car - picking it up next week! :j
Either way i agree - elephants quote is a very very good price for the circumstances... i was just checking to see if anyone knew anywhere cheaper! ive had a mixed bunch of quotes - the best one being hastings at almost £3000!!!
i think ill go for the elephant deal tomorrow... are there any further discounts that could be had with them??? ive tried quidco and pigsback but niether offer any...
Thanks again :beer:0 -
when i was 20 i got a lotus elise, and my quotes were coming in at £4000 with 3 yrs NCB,
that was the average quote (when i could find companys to insure me that is!)
then someone suggested to me for my mam to insure it and me to be a named driver, so i went up that track bearing in mind that if i was to keep my NCB i would need to isure another car within 2 yrs.
i got my mam to call around the companys i got the lowest quotes from and performance direct isured me this way for £2000,
i know its a lot but that was what i likes at that point in my life so i was fortunate to be able to pay 2k for the insurace.
they said i was restricted to 4000 miles a year (but how do they know how many miles i had drove
)
so maybe try that way.
hope to of helped a few people.0 -
im now thinking that as the car is only worth £2k anyway whats the point in going fully comp?! if i have a crash ill have to pay the £1000 excess then they'll say due the cars only now worth £1300! ill get £300 and my insurance will go up by that next year anyway!!! Might just go TPFT for £660 for 10months...0

Sounds a good idea. Just don't have an own fault accident (like I did
) as you aren't covered for those TPFT. We are fully comp on the car I decided to impale on a post so we were ok.
Our ins didn't go up though even with the claim, I got it cheaper this year than last year but as you are young it probably would if you made a claim.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Yes, go TPFT.
Try the names that advertise in Min Power and the other mags like that.
Adrian Flux, Greenlight, and other specialist insurers can be a good bit cheaper.
Celica 2.0 isn't that hot performance wise, so I can only imagine it's the image thing that's hitting the premium.Happy chappy0 -
Lying about who drives the car, how many miles you do etc is insurance fraud and can invalidate any claim and make it very difficult to get insurance in the future - in response to some of the suggestions on here.
Money saving is about getting the best deals for YOU, not for you IF someone else drove your car or you ran up less milage in the car.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I would say Aplan are your best bet! For me 29, Impreza WRX with PPP £650 is hard to beat.
For general insurers, try adding a safe relative to your quote, ie mother with 5 years accident free history etc to lower the risk.Waddle you do eh?0 -
nice one.. i'm looking at in Impreza in the next few months but the WRX came back too expensive on an insurance search.0
