Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Woo Hoo, last day at work this week, I have tomorrow off to get ready for the big day.
It was aknowledged by the bursar that it isn't fair I am made a scapegoat for the budget problems in my department, so that is some small comfort.
We had another rehersal yesterday, the order of ceremony & vows are on my blog now.
The beef 4.68k is cooking & & will be sliced this evening when it's cold, the first batch of 15 Jerk chicken breasts was marinaded overnight & is now in the slowcooker, the 2nd batch is marniating in the jerk seasoning. The 5.6k turkey breast will go in the oven next & the 6.1k gammon is soaking & will be cooked tomorrow.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning Hester, and all who follow. Getting very exciting, reading of all your preparations, Hester! So glad that the bursar has admitted you should not be blamed. That should remove one worry from your mind! Hope today goes quickly (and pleasantly!) for you.
Am hoping my lethargy (more mental thn physical) is passing so that I can actually crack on with the million and one things on my to do list. I hate feling like a paralysed rabbit in the headlights, but just can't pull myself out of it! Anyway, got up early to deal with a few outstanding paperwork bits first. Not sure whether to put WM on or not - forecast was not good - but looks OK for now!
Lunch remains a mystery just now - but supper will be the last of the lamb - shepherd's pie, I think.
Hope you all have a good day. Do take care. if I actually get anything done I'll be back to tell you all!

Hester, sounds yummy xxx have a great day, glad the bursar has sorted themselves out xxx

No idea what time the boys started this morning - from the timer on the DVD player, must have been before 6! Plumber coming for a second day today to fit the bathroom - we're doing the tiling and cleared it out, so saving money that way.

Dinner last night was burnt pizza - just told the boys it was a special crispy one!!! Tonight we'll have something out of the freezer - perhaps fish. Read the preparing for winter thread last night - there was a post on there with a long range forecast for this winter. Doesn't look great, so I placed an order on Approved Foods - my first, so we'll see how it goes. Will get a load of plastic containers from MILs house this weekend and can then make plenty of casseroles and keep them in the freezer - just MUST label them!!!!

Have also been proactive about the cakes I have promised for the school summer fair. Went through my recipe book last night and chose 4 cakes to make - most ingredients I already have, but then did a Tesco order for the remaining ingredients. I know the delivery charge even at its cheapest isn't very OS, but as OH works away and we're at MILs every weekend, I have to balance saving money against what is practical with two young children! Sounds like a plan - lets hope it will all turn out right!!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Morning Hester and all to follow.

Hester, all your food sounds lovely :j, you are very organised, and I love your vows

Bit overcast here this morning, still I am off to work, will do a wash tonight and hang it on the airer.

Fish fingers chips and beans for dinner (love easy dinner Thursdays), dd coming into work for a few hours today, so that will keep her busy. She applied for a waitressing job at a local hotel chain last night, the application form was 8 pages long !!! its only a summer job !!

Sainsbugs are delivering tonight, and I will have a swish and swipe before work this morning.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning all,

Hester, glad things got sorted out at work, now you can concentrate on the big day!

Lovely and sunny again here this morning but rain is forecast for later, I am going to put the washing out anyway and hope that the rain doesn't start until I get home.

DD2 is in a concert at her school this evening so tea tonight will be something that I can leave in a pot for everyone to help themselves when they are around, sausage casserole probably.
I think that DS is going to the 20/20 cricket so he needs to eat early.

Last night I realised that there was not enough of the mild chilli that I had made for the children so I turned the remainder into a lasagne, now they are always going to want kidney beans in their lasagne!

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning all

Bit grey here today but we need the rain. I actually slept really well last night as I got my biopsy results and all is well :j.

Had a visit from my DSS and his wife yesterday, first time I've seen him since the wedding last September that cost £20,000:eek:. Needless to say we didn't pay for it.

HESTER glad things got sorted at work.

Was so tired yesterday DS had leftovers for tea, he was quite happy though as it was bolognese.

Plan this morning to do a tip run. Then got the gym later. Work tonight so will get my head down at some point. Dinner is something from the freezer.

    Have a good day all

    Morning everyone

Dry bright and sunny here this morning. Washing out on the line. DH up and off to work but not at stupid early o'clock, so he brought me a lovely cuppa in bed to start the day.

Dinner last night was pork chops, HG new potatoes, spring cabbage, carrots, broccolli, yorkshires and gravy, and ice cream for dessert. Now on days off from work, have a holiday day on Monday as DS2 has a training day and I had no childcare, so no work until Tuesday for me, yippee, but looking at the "to do" list maybe I'd prefer to be at work!!

We're not away this weekend or next, so this weekend we're having a major push to get the upstairs painting finished, it's mostly glossing of doors and skirting boards, we only started in April 2010! but I've now put my foot down and insisted that we get it finished! Still trying to crack on with the whole house de-clutter, only 1 item sold on ebay, but there's a free listing weekend this weekend so will be re-listing all that didn't sell, will send sold item off today.

Have to collect DH's car today and take to the garage to get some new wiper blades fitted - went to 2 garages (one was a main dealer but in fairness their spares dept was closed and just showroom was open) and neither could supply us with wipers/blades for our Landrover Discovery - have already spoken to another garage and they were more than helpful, as always, and said just bring it down, we have those on the shelf in stock so will get it sorted for you.

Dinner tonight is fish, chips/jacket, beans/veg, so not difficult. Hoping to crack on with lots of jobs today so will be a busy bee, may put ingredients in to make a batch of bread dough, nice to have HM bread with dinner. Have invited mum and dad for lunch on Sunday as it's Father's day, also they are supporting dad's sis who is undergoing chemo at the moment, unfortunately it doesn't look good long term and she's never married or had children so apart from us and some other nieces and nephews there isn't any one to help out.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning all :)
Chucking it down with rain here - I felt very guilty as DS2 trudged off to school! I woke with a kicking headache so was very happy when DH took DD to school for me - he's back in bed now having a little extra snooze before work (he's self employed).
Made the mistake of weighing myself last night.....oh dear! I need to cut back on making chocolate cakes :(
No idea what dinner will be yet!!
Hugs to all and have a fab day x
