they do have competition, theres motorworld,

people can also buy online, people arent forced to buy from halfords

Didn't Motorworld go bust, or was just the ones in my part of the world?

Halfords is a bit like tescos of the motor trade meaning you can get anything you want under one roof which makes it convient, and now offers the fitting services, for the boy racers that dont actually know how to change a wiper blade. When I worked there many moons ago ( about 10 years) there were many inexperinced drivers that came there for advice, etc. The quality of items varied from dept to dept. and you pay for quality you cant compare a snap on spanner to a halfords one..
i feel with halfords your paying for the packaging and service, which a feel you cant really get at a genral motorfactors. (after my time at halfords I'm now confident to walk into a garage/shop and request part and know what i'm talking about, not many ladies can say that?)
Halfords have/had a pretty good returns policy so if you feel you've been ripped of go back. btw i buy very little there these days, chosing to cut out the middle man and deal direct with motorfactors.
Making small changes, hoping they will last....

Another problem with them is that they have no competetion, this is not good for us customers.

Overpriced tat? Other stores sell expensive tat or dear and useless tat.

PartCo, Europarts, A1, Carspares, GSF, Ebay and probably 20 independant stores in a 20 mile radius
    of me etc etc etc...

I look through the window & see chrome plated exhausts and airfilters that either dont flow or have holes big
enough to let small children through. Wonder why chavved up cars smoke badly or make lots of noise but
    dont go very fast.
