Is this Britains number one rip off chain ?

I know for a fact ( from one of their suppliers) that their own brand products are specially made to a low standard, but they charge premium prices.

Another problem with them is that they have no competetion, this is not good for us customers.

'For a fact' huh? Or perhaps it's just this particular supplier's opinion.

No matter, as with all these things... if you don't like it, shop elsewhere. Please don't tell me that the only place you can buy a pushbike or a Haynes manual is Halfords. That's crazy talk!

I have quite a few of the Halfords tools, and they have done me very well so far (not broken like some of the cheap sets I have bought in the past), and I do use them a lot.

As tools go, their professional range is very good for the price.Just don't buy them at full price as they are often discounted.

    Not in my humble opinion.

Anyway, why the beef with them, you cannot be a competitor? :rotfl:

he cant be can he as he says they dont have any
maybe they are next door to a subway he doesnt like:D
  • No competition?

Well if your definition of competition is another chain of shops mostly based at retail parks, that sell car spares, bikes, car audio, camping gear, bikes, and have an orange and black logo - then you are right.

On the other hand there are literally hundereds of motor factors, bike shopd, car audio shops, camping shops, and bike shops. Of course most use other colours for their shop signage, so you may not be comfortable going in.

    Then there is the internet.

Quality wise, their cheap stuff is cheap for a reason, their professional ranges are good value normally, and great value when on a deal. Prices for single items are slightly crazy though!
Unless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%

They will be like many other suppliers.
Halford badge on standard products. Everybody sells the same thing, from the same source, but with their own branding on it.
    So the criteria is price.

The problems come, when large purchasers lever manufacturers to produce their goods at lower and lower prices, so they have to cut corners to meet the price Halfords etc will pay.
As an example (fact) we (who shall remain nameless) used to supply Rover, and their contract said that the price we charged them, should be reduced by 10% every oncoming year. Just shows what lunatics there are in business! How long will it be before you are supplying a large customer, and making a loss on every item?
